Reasons for hair loss

Hair loss is something we most regularly associate with men. Men do suffer from this phenomenon and most of them do not like it and try to take steps to treat it and avoid it. However, it is hard to treat and avoid hair loss if you do not know what causes it. The following are three reasons for hair loss:

  1. Genetics.

It is true that some people have a great head of hair by the luck of the genetic gene pool draw. In fact, heredity plays a big role when it comes to hair growth problems. Chances are, if you are a man and your father and grandfather lost their hair, you can bet that you will, too. The same holds true for women. If you are a woman and your mother and grandmother experienced thinning or balding hair, you can expect to have the same experience. But with these things in mind you can also realize you have a leg up on the world. If you recognize your genetics are going to mean inevitable hair loss, you can start a prevention or treatment plan early so that you can retain or at least regrow your hair.

  2. Hormones

. Hormones are another reason people lose their hair, but not because hormones are raging or anything like that but because of a hormonal imbalance. Hormonal changes can cause hair growth or hair loss. For example, many pregnant women experience thicker more beautiful hair, and then they have their baby and their hormones change again and their hair starts to break or fall out like crazy. Of course, once the hormones are restored to balance the thinning stops. This usually takes a while for women, especially if they breast feed their child, as this keeps hormones out of whack. Of course hormonal imbalance is not unique to women. In fact, this is also the reason men start losing their hair at a certain age. It all comes down to hormonal balances. So, if you want to prevent hair growth problems, talk to your doctor about it and have them do bloodwork to help you recognize if you have a hormonal imbalance which is causing your hair loss. If you do have an imbalance, a lot of times they can treat you and your hair loss will stop.

  3. Deficiencies.

This is another reason for hair loss. Nutritional deficiency are a reason some people lose their hair. For example, many people who are anorexic or bulimic suffer from hair loss because of the lack of nutrients. This is an extreme example of nutrient deficiencies causing hair loss. However, your deficiency does not need to be severe for you to notice a difference in your hair. Even a slight nutritional deficiency can lead to thinning hair. So you can take supplements to help with making sure you have the right nutrients so you do not lose hair, or you can just make sure you eat a well balances diet that contains plenty of fruits, vegetables, and in their natural forms.

Let's face it, there is a good chance you might lose hair, but that does not mean you can't do anything about it. The very first thing you should do when you notice hair thinning is see your physician. They can determine if there is a medical cause for your hair growth problems, and what you can do to help. There are many different ways to treat hair loss, including with topical monoxodil, prescription medication, hair transplant and more.
