Here are some great treadmill workouts. A great treadmill workout program is one of the most beneficial acts you can add to a healthier you. The reason is that the cardio exercise you will get from a treadmill is more important and better for you than most other exercises.

Whether you choose to walk, jog, run, or climb, you will find that this will add stamina to your overall actions throughout the day. No matter what your preference of speed is for using your treadmill, you will be able to incorporate that action into your overall programs.

The versatility of a treadmill workout is one that can be mixed and matched to meet the health needs of most any person. The main thing to keep in mind is consistency of the use of your exercise program and treadmill.

Keep in mind also that any of the treadmill workouts you plan, can also be done out doors, in a park, on a jogging path, or even the sidewalk or road. This is another reason this type of exercise is so versatile.

Before you start any type of exercise program it is important to check with your doctor if there are any health concerns.

Warm up and cool down

No matter what exercise program you go with, you will want to make sure to do some stretches, warm up walking and then some cool down walking after wards.

This helps to get your body ready for the actions of the workout. The last thing you want is torn ligaments, pulled muscles, or other problems.

Walking

If you have not exercised for a while, start out with some walking. This will get your body used to the movement again. It is not necessary to go right into jogging or running if it has been awhile since you last exercised.

Even if you are making jogging or running a major part of your exercise plan, you will want to start and end with a portion of walking. This helps to prevent problems with your body.

Keep the walking in a simple, beginner's mode at first. This way you will not over do it. Then as time goes by you will be ready for a more rigorous routine. This time frame will be up to you; it may be a few minutes, or a few sessions.

Change the incline

When you are walking, if you want to add a more natural movement as if you were walking outdoors, add a bit of an incline, either for the entire walk, or for portions of the walk. This also helps to increase stamina, and the cardio workout.

A 2-degree incline should work for this type of increase.

Change the speed

As you are getting used to the movement, you will also want to increase your speeds. This can be to a faster walk, jog or run. You can also use some variation to these movements. Sometimes walking, then jogging, then running then back to walking.

The main thing with exercising on a treadmill is consistency. What ever program you use, the main thing is to do it for a consistent amount of time and keeping your body at the target heart rate. Most treadmills have a heart rate monitor to help you keep your body where it needs to be. This is also important if there are any health concerns.

These are some great treadmill workout options. You will find that doing a little variation and mix and match you will get a better workout and the workout will be more fun.
