Staying fit when you have young children
Watching new mother celebrities on television can be very frustrating for an average American mother with children of her own. So frequently we hear of this famous model who only gained 20 pounds with her last pregnancy and was able to loose it all in 3 months and now looks better than ever. Does this sound familiar to you? The thing that makes these women different from you or I is that they have resources that we do not. If these famous women want to visit the gym their nanny can watch the children. Dieticians and chefs cook these women exactly what they need to optimize their metabolism. It is ridiculous to expect the same results as these women when we are mothers of other small children, have husbands with careers and busy schedules of their own and have financial limitations that make it difficult to afford a gym membership let alone a private weight-loss entourage.

Fortunately staying fit and looking your best when you have young children is not something that is reserved solely for the rich and famous. It is possible for the average woman to stay fit while juggling all of her many responsibilities. All it takes is a little effort and creativity to obtain a work-out or exercise routine that does you just as much good as the more expensive and less attainable alternatives. Here are just a few easy suggestions for staying fit when you have young children:
Exercise together - Your young children are probably attached to you at the hip and you have no hope of getting away to do your own exercise routine right? Not a problem. Involve your children in your exercise routine. Not only will they have fun copying what you do but they can use a tape to follow an instructor or you can make your own tape to help them to follow along. Establishing important principles of physical fitness while your children are young is also beneficial to their development. It is possible to stay fit and stay with your children while everyone has fun at the same time.
Resistance bands - One of the greatest pieces of exercise equipment that every mother should have is also one of the least expensive pieces of exercise equipment out there. What am I referring to? I am talking about the resistance bands. If you are not familiar with what resistance bands are, they are like big rubber bands that build muscle strength when pulled. Resistance bands are ideal because they can be used virtually anywhere. You can keep a resistance band in your diaper bag and use it while waiting at the pediatrician's office or while waiting in the car to pick up your young ones from school. All you need is a minute or two to get a great mini-workout.
Play outside - Playing outside is not only a good remedy for boredom but it can provide you and your children with an excellent workout. Encourage your kids to play outside and make sure that you join them. Playing sports together or even engaging in an activity as simple as a game of tag can really do a lot of good for your figure.
Take a stroll - Use your stroller and be sure to take walks. Walking provides parents and children with a time to talk together and learn from each other. Taking walks is also something that can be done at any time of the year. Make sure to keep your pace quick and get your heart rate up.
Eat healthy together - Staying fit when you have young children also involves making sure that you all have a healthy diet. Parents should be willing to eat all of the healthy foods that they want their children to eat. Do not be hypocritical and stash away treats from your children. Commit yourself to eating right as a family and eliminate needless temptations.
