Staying hydrated, how important is it really?

Keeping hydrated is so important. If you don't drink enough water or fluids, you are unhealthy among other things. Let's look at why staying hydrated is so important.
First off, if you don't drink enough water, you will be unhealthy. You will start looking sick and things like your hair will be slowly losing shine and will start deteriorating. You will also probably start feeing sick all over and won't have as much energy to do things. Water is something that you have to have to survive. Not having it destroys your body.
If you don't drink enough water while you are doing things like hiking or even sitting in a boat on a lake, you can get heat exhaustion or even heat stroke. They are both serious. Heat exhaustion is when you overdo something or aren't hydrated enough, get really hot on the outside but feel extremely cold. Heat stroke is much worse and if you think you might have it, you should immediately go to the hospital.

Water helps to keep your body healthy and especially helps your joints and muscles working. Just like oxygen, water brings nutrients that keeps your joints working well and lubricated. If your joints are lubricated, they won't work. You kind of have to have your joints in order to do things like walking, so drinking water is essential. Water also helps to keep your body temperature where it should be.
Things like energy drinks are available anywhere. They do somewhat quench your thirst, but water is best. You can still have energy drinks, soda, and juice, but work water into your diet as well. Water doesn't have any calories or sugar so it's better on your body. But you still need sugar in your diet as well. Just remember to not have too much.
Doctors recommend at least 8 glasses of water a day. Most people think of that as unrealistic. If you keep a drink at your desk at work, just drink water. You won't have to worry about packing on the pounds from your soda or worried about having too much sugar. Plus, it is the best way to quench your thirst. You would have to drink tons more soda to quench your thirst than if you drank water.
When you get thirsty, you are already starting to become dehydrated. Drink as often as you can and as healthy as you can. Drinking things like soda all the time will keep you hydrated but it will keep you on a sugar high as well. You will be drinking too much sugar and it will actually hurt you more than help you.
When you are trying to lose weight, you are supposed to drink lots of water. It helps to clean out your body while providing it with the necessary nourishment and hydration to keep it going.
Drinking a lot of water is important. You need it to survive, as your body is mostly made up of water. Water is hardly anything, but it still gives you tons of energy to do what you need to do. Plus it keeps you skin and body looking great.
