Straightening tips for curly hair

There are thousand of people around the world who experience the frustration of frizzy hair and don't know what to do about it. With the right techniques and styling tools you can go from frizzy to straight in minutes. Here are some straitening tips for curly hair that will surely help you find your way past the frizz.
1. Moisturize. Many girls with the big frizz try straightening their hair just to have it end up a huge frizzy mess. Naturally curly hair definite has its disadvantages but don't fret; there are a lot of styling products to help with your problem. It can sometimes be overwhelming trying to decide which products will walk the walk and not just talk the talk. The most important thing to remember about naturally curly hair is that you need to find styling products with extra moisturizers in them. When your hair is healthy it will frizz out less and keep the split ends to a minimum. Find a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner; they will usually say something like "added moisture" on them. You can even look for deep conditioning treatments to help the whole process. Make sure you choose hair products that suit your needs (dry, oily, normal, etc.) so they will work best for you.

2. Choose moisture specific styling products. There are a ton of styling products out there to choose from; gels to mouse; pomades to creams. It ultimately comes down to your preference but there are some things to remember. Choose styling products that are going to reduce the amount of damage you will be putting on your hair. Choose products that have extra moisturizers in them and that say they are specifically made to "de-frizz" hair.
3. Use low heat. If you're blow drying your hair then make sure to steer clear of the high heat settings. More heat means more damage and usually more frizz. Most blow dryers have a cool setting so use it. Cool heat is actually better for unmanageable hair. And make sure before you start blow drying that you add some moisturizer cream to the ends to keep them from splitting. Something else to consider (depending on how curly your locks are) is letting your hair dry over night and straightening it in the morning. This cuts back on how much heat you expose your hair to.
4. Use a straightening iron. There are many different straightening irons out there with different heat settings. There are also many cheap ones (in price and quality) and expensive ones (which doesn't necessarily mean quality either). You might need to do some checking on which ones have which features and what you prefer. If your hair is really curly then you'll want to get a larger flat iron as opposed to the small ones for thin hair. Start with the roots of the hair and follow the iron with a comb. This helps keep the fly away hairs at a minimum. You might have to straighten one piece a few times to get it how you like it. There are some straightening irons on the market today that have brush-like bristles on them that allow you to straighten as you blow dry. They claim to be better for you hair than an actual blow dryer and probably cut down on the time it takes to dry and straighten your hair.
There you have it; some straitening tips for curly hair. Straightening hair, especially really curly hair can take a lot of time out of your day so make sure you schedule a block out and take the time to do it right the first time.
