One of the best things about aerobics is that it provides your body with numerous benefits, not just physically but mentally as well. If you have thought about starting aerobics you should read on to find out about the numerous benefits that aerobics can provide you with. In fact aerobics can help you to lead a longer and healthier life.

Here are some of the benefits of aerobics.

Benefit one:
Aerobics can help you to stay active and independent as you get older because aerobics helps to keep your muscles strong, which in turn will help you to maintain your mobility as you get older. But not only can it help to keep your muscles strong aerobics also has certain mind benefits as well. It has been proven that if you do at least 30 minutes of aerobics three times a week it will help keep your mind sharp because it can reduce cognitive decline when you get older.

Benefit two:
Even though in the beginning aerobics can make you tired, it has been proven that in the long run it will increase your stamina and reduce the amount of fatigue you are feeling. Which basically means in the long run you are going to have more energy to do the things that you enjoy doing, including aerobics.

Benefit three:
Another mind benefit of aerobics is that it can help to reduce the feelings of depression, as well as reduce the tension that is associated with anxiety. But not only that aerobics can actually make you feel more relaxed, which will help to keep your heart rate at lower resting levels even when you become stressed.

Benefit four:
Another huge benefit to aerobics is that you are going to be able to increase the levels of your good cholesterol and decrease the levels of bad cholesterol. It has been proven that step aerobics is one of the best ways to increase your good cholesterol levels because of how vigorous of a workout it is and the more vigorous the workout the better your chances of increasing your levels of good cholesterol. So this means that if you are doing water aerobics or regular aerobics you need to perform as vigorous of a workout as step aerobics provides to get the good cholesterol up. And the best news about lowering your bad cholesterol and increasing your good cholesterol is that there is going to be less buildup of plaque in your arteries, which will help to keep them clear.

Benefit five:
A huge benefit to aerobics is that it provides you with a great high calorie burning workout, no matter what level of aerobics you are doing. In a normal fifty minute aerobic workout you can burn anywhere from 250 to 400 calories, how much you actually burn depends on your weight and your level of exertion. And one of the best things about burning calories is that you are burning fat at the same time which means it can help you to lose weight.

Benefit six:
Another great benefit to aerobics is that it is providing you with a cardiovascular workout which can help to decrease the risk of heart disease, including heart attacks. The reason that it helps to decrease the chance of heart disease is that when doing aerobics you are building up your cardiovascular endurance, which is improving your heart overall. This means that your heart will work better and more efficiently than before because aerobics slightly increases the size of your heart.

Just remember that before you begin an aerobics workout you are going to want to talk to your healthcare provider. They will be able to tell you what kind of aerobics can benefit you and if you should avoid certain exercises due to physical injuries or certain health conditions such as diabetes.
