The different aerobic techniques and their benefits

What some of you might not be aware of is that aerobics and aerobic exercises are two different things. Aerobics uses aerobic exercises that are set to music that require cues from an instructor, which can be in a class or on a video. Aerobic exercises are exercises that are done repetitively for an extended period of time and they also have to raise your heart rate. Because many exercise techniques are done repetitively for an extended period of time and raise your heart rate they are considered an aerobic exercise. So the basic difference between the two is that aerobics incorporates the aerobic exercises into a routine that is performed in time to music.

Here is a look at some of the different aerobic techniques and their benefits.

Walking:
This aerobic technique is used in low impact aerobics and is great exercise because it is gentle on the back, not to mention it is helpful to get your blood flowing and your heart rate up. Some of the benefits to walking are that there is no special equipment needed, except you are going to need a good pair of walking shoes. Another benefit to walking is that it can be done pretty much anywhere, at home, at a park, at a mall, etc. Many aerobic routines begin with walking in place as a way to warm up.

Jumping jack:
This technique is usually used in high impact aerobics because it requires jumping and a coordination of movements, arms and legs. This technique is also considered high impact because it jars the spine so people who have certain injuries should stay away from this technique. But it is a great way to get your heart rate going and a good way to keep it at a steady pace.

Steps:
This technique is mainly only used in step aerobics because of the fact that you need special equipment to perform it. But this technique involves stepping up and down stairs to help increase your stamina and a way to raise your heart rate. The basic stepping technique is used in numerous other techniques that are done on the steps.

Dancing:
This technique combines a variety of different moves that helps to increase your heart beat because your body just naturally goes along with the beat of the music. With dancing you can have walking, skipping, stepping, swinging and other techniques involved from your basic aerobic workouts.

Yoga:
This technique is your power styles of yoga that use postures and deep breathing with constant movement. Your body is continuously going from one pose to the next in time with the music, which will increase your heart rate and work out your lungs.

Just remember that with aerobics there are many different techniques that are used. What techniques are used depends on what kind of an aerobics class you are taking and what level of class you are taking. But regardless of what techniques are used all of the techniques are going to pretty much provide you with the same type of benefits.

Almost all aerobic techniques are going to provide you with a great cardio workout because they are going to be working out your lungs and your heart at the same time. The key to getting the best workout is to get your heart rate up to your target level and then keep it there for an extended period of time. But another benefit to the various aerobic techniques is that they are designed to help you burn calories, which in turn will help you to lose weight because you will be burning fat.
