The fast way to be active

The world is going digital, and with this they are getting lazier and lazier. You no longer have to go to the photo place to develop film, you just download your pictures to your computer. You no longer have to hand write letters, you can send a text, an email, or even a voice message. Obviously these are good things, however, obesity and other health problems are starting to become more and more common because of the lack of activity and the poor diet of Americans today. Tackling these issues is about lifestyle changes including trying to be more active. However, many find that trying to be more active is hard to fit into their busy schedules. Lucky for all, whether it be work, study or family there is always time to fit activity into your schedule, here are a few simple strategies:

Take a lunch hour walk. It does not take a whole hour to eat your lunch. Usually it takes only 15-20 minutes, so take the remaining 40 minutes to walk at a brisk pace. This does not have to be hard, and usually you can find a coworker willing to spend the time with you. So, walk to where you are going to eat, and go for a walk after.


Household chores are another way to get some activity in. Move at a fast pace as you put away toys, or fold laundry, turn on some tunes that keep you moving, and add any extra movement you can to the activity. You will kill two birds with one stone, have a cleaner house and a healthier life.

Gardening is a great way to exercise if you make it so.
You can work hard, you can move more, and you can do your best to get your heart rate up while moving dirt and planting plants. Walk fast while you mow, dig deeper holes, or plant more animals.

Next, add exercise to the things you already do.
For example, walk a round of golf. If you are already going to play, why not get some exercise in? You can walk a standard size golf course and get a good three miles worth of walking in while having fun. You can golf and exercise. This can work for any activity you generally enjoy. So, work hard to add exercise into your regular activity.

Sex is a great form of exercise.
You can burn a lot of calories doing this. So, just remember, if you have a hard time fitting exercise in, you do not have to be totally inactive, you can make love to your spouse and burn calories while doing so.

Physical entertainment makes for a more active life. Ok, so at night you are probably going to do something to entertain yourself. There are the nights you want to relax and watch a show, but generally, instead of watching a rented DVD, try more physical forms of entertainment. This can be ten pin bowling, horse riding, backyard cricket, paintball or an afternoon at the beach, even miniature golf, or the batting cages make for a more active form of entertainment, and usually will not cost you anymore money or time then a less active option.

Watch your children. Let's face it, there are times when you do not have any time because your children need you. However, you can turn these times into a form of exercise. For example, playing with the kids can help you burn a lot of energy. Play tag, play hide and seek, play any game that gets you up and moving around.

Bike riding is a great form of fitness. So, use bike riding as your form of transport for a while. Ride your bike to work once a week, or ride it to the grocery store when you are just going to pick up an item or two. This is good for the environment, will save you money on gas, and is great for your health.

These are fast ways to be active because they are taking activity to the things you are already doing. You are going to eat, so instead of driving to the restaurant, walk, or ride your bike. Instead of sitting on the couch and watching television at night, go to a bowling alley, or play miniature golf. Get active fast!
