Cellulite is not actually a particular kind of fat, which is what most people believe that it is. Instead, cellulite is just pockets of fat that can be in basically any part of the body.
So what causes cellulite in a particular person?
Cellulite is not necessarily caused by a bad diet, which is what most people believe. Instead, cellulite is essentially due to genetics. This means that if you are genetically predisposed to having cellulite, well, then there's not really anything that you can do to completely avoid the development of cellulite.
Cellulite can appear in anyone: teenagers, people in their twenties, and older people. However, cellulite tends to show up more often in older people. This increased appearance in older people is due to the fact that as we get older, the tissues in our body change. The skin thins and so the appearance of fat increases as the fat bulges out. Also, the connective strands of tissue thicken as we get older. Also, as we get older, we gain more fat. It's pretty much inevitable, especially for women.
What causes the appearance of cellulite?
The characteristic appearance of cellulite is actually caused by a bunch of strands of fibrous tissue. This fibrous tissue attaches to the inside of the skin. The fibrous tissue pulls the skin in, and it pushes the fat out. This means that these fibrous tissues result in the characteristic cottage cheese appearance that people associate with cellulite.
How can I keep cellulite under control?
Because cellulite is caused by genetic predisposition, it is impossible for a person with the genes that lead to cellulite to avoid the development of cellulite. However, it is possible to keep cellulite under control with hard work and careful attention. Some studies have demonstrated that the use of both smoking and the use of caffeine can increase the appearance of cellulite and will make it look even worse. Smoking and caffeine can worsen the appearance of cellulite because they constrict the blood vessels in the body.
The majority of doctors and the majority of scientists believe that the only way to really keep cellulite under control is the same way to keep all fat under control: controlling one's weight and consistently exercising. Eating well and exercising regularly are both ways to keep fat and weight under control, and thus reduce the appearance and the development of cellulite. Consult your doctor to decide on the right eating plan and the right exercise plan for you.
What about lotions and creams to cut down on the appearance of cellulite?
More and more often, we are seeing ads all over the place for lotions and different creams that claim to cut down on the appearance of cellulite. Do these creams and these lotions actually work and dissolve the appearance of cellulite? Well, no studies have actually demonstrated that these creams and lotions will reduce the appearance of cellulite. However, if you have the money and you are willing to pay the high price of these "cellulite-reducing" formulas, then it wouldn't harm you at all to try some of them.
Exercises to reduce the appearance of cellulite
The best way to reduce the appearance of cellulite through exercise is by working all of the lower body muscles from each angle. By working the muscles this way, then the fat stores that are underlying the muscles will be reduced. Also, muscle tissue will increase and you will increase your toning, replacing the honey-combed cottage cheese appearance of cellulite with taut, toned muscles.
