Some people start an aerobic exercise program with a strong determination and motivation and see results right away. But over time they find themselves struggling to stay with the aerobic program and seek an excuse to quit.

Regular aerobic exercise can help you lose weight, reduce heart attack risk, reduce blood pressure and increase your physical health which can allow you to live longer. Now, how can you make your aerobic routine fun and improve your fitness?

There is no rule that says you need to go to the gym or buy equipment when you want to do aerobic exercise. You can certainly do it in the privacy of your own home if this is what makes you comfortable. At home you can use video cassettes or DVDs. You can invite friends, neighbors or family members to join you who will help make your exercise more challenging, fun and less boring. If all concerned agree, you can make a schedule where each of you decides the days and the time you want to meet each week and take turns hosting the aerobic activity. Have light refreshments afterwards such as a salad or fruit depending of the time of your aerobic exercise or just hang out with each other for a little while longer.

Make exercise a priority. To avoid being constantly interrupted by your kids or members of your family, try to exercise early in the morning. You can go on a walk, go jogging or go bicycling. You can enjoy the peaceful morning and be in tune with yourself. Sometimes that's all it takes to enjoy exercising is to find the time of day without interruptions from anyone. If you decide to go to the gym for your aerobic exercises, then find a gym that is not too far from home. After your aerobic exercise, it is so rewarding and fun to take a shower.

The best equipment to have in your house that can give you the most exercise and benefit is probably a good treadmill. With a treadmill and a workout routine, you are sure to be on your way to fitness in the privacy of your home. Listen to good music or simply watch TV while you exercise. These simple things can add fun and great fitness to your life.

If you can, try to enjoy what nature has. Take a walk around the neighborhood or at the park with friends, family or neighbors. Explore new areas when you go camping. Go hiking or biking through a scenic area. Enjoy being active with your family or friends. Plan some fun playtime into your day such as dancing to music in your home, playing tennis or going on bike rides with your spouse after work, early mornings or on weekends. You can take the kids on your bike ride or walk as well so they also can start enjoying a fitness program at an early age.

There are great sports that the communities offer such as basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming and so on to keep you on track without you thinking that you are actually exercising. Any of these sports are fun, stimulating and will bring your heart rate up. These games keep you engaged, push you a little harder than you would do on your own, and dramatically improve your fitness. They are fun and it is a great way to share your sports talent with others. It is definitely a great way to have fun and to enjoy aerobics. You don't need a personnel trainer when you sign up for any of these activities. It's pure fun.

In order to lose weight safely and keep it off, there is no magic formula, you simply have to exercise. Those who integrate a workout routine in their life benefit from it whether it is to lose weight, stay fit or have fun.
