Tip # 1 - Watch what you eat and how much you eat
While we all know that sugars and fats are two of the biggest culprits that cause weight gain, we don't know the problem with how much we are eating. You can have an oreo cookie once and awhile, just make sure you stick to the serving size of it. Always look at the serving sizes on the box, this is where a lot of people go wrong. You hear things like "consume 5-6 vegetable servings per day" and you think that is a lot of broccoli and carrots to eat. However, if you look at the serving size, you may find that you already consume that much, you just didn't realize it.
Cut out the sugars like sodas and cookies when you are trying to lose weight. One of the best diets to try if you want to cut sugar is the South Beach Diet. The first 2 weeks train your body how to survive without sugar. While this is going to be hard, especially if you like your daily soda and candy bar, you will be able to survive. After the first two weeks, healthy sugar like natural sugars found in carrots will be introduced into your diet again and you will soon find that you crave the healthy sugars instead of the fatty sugars in soda.
Always be mindful of the serving size. How much you eat has a big part of how well you can diet. Look at what the serving size is for cereal and measure it out. You will be shocked to see how much you have been overeating. Serving sizes alone will help you quickly cut out how much extra food and calories you have been consuming that were unnecessary.
Tip # 2 - Eat slowly
This is a big debate in the dieting world. Some people claim that eating slowly doesn't help but other experts disagree. For the sake of this article, we have researched and found that people that eat slowly see positive weight loss results and people can maintain their weight better when they eat slowly.
When you eat slowly, you will eat less because the stomach starts to receive food before you have finished eating your meal. Some people eat too quickly and they end up overeating because they are trying to hurry. Giving yourself more time to eat allows you to pace yourself and only eat until you are full, not overloaded with food. Be careful about not finishing your complete serving size though because you may feel hungry later. To combat those hunger pains, eat a protein-rich snack like a piece of sliced turkey meat and a stick of cheese. A piece of celery with peanut butter is another great in-between meal snack.
Tip # 3 - Water
To make your body feel full, drink water. Water allows you to trick your stomach into thinking it is full in-between meals when you start to get the hunger pains. Drink water with all of your meals, it will help you eat slower and it will help you eat less. Water is a great way to flush the toxins from your body and to keep the weight off once you have worked hard to lose it.
