Are you interested in learning about different styles of aerobics? Are you thinking about joining a step aerobics class? Do you just want to know exactly what step aerobics is? Well the good news is that if you answered yes to any of the above questions there is an easy and simple answer. Step aerobics is another form of aerobics and is actually pretty self explanatory, not to mention it is also really easy to perform.

Step aerobics is basically what the name sounds like, you use a step for the aerobic routine. The aerobic routine basically involves you stepping up and down on the step, similar to climbing stairs. Other movements can be added such as stepping over the step, stepping sideways onto the step, etc. But the basics of step aerobics involve climbing up and down onto the step. One thing that you want to be aware of is that the different levels of step aerobics will require different height steps, this is because the higher the step the harder the workout. And like other styles of aerobics, step aerobics is performed to music with cues from your instructor.

Another thing that you want to be aware of when it comes to step aerobics is that you don't want to bend your knees more than a 90 degree angle because of the increased risk of injuries. You also want your heart rate to be at 118 to 122 beats per minute during your workout. Step aerobics is not for everybody so before beginning a step aerobic routine you should talk with your doctor about the style of aerobics that is right for you.

But one of the best things about step aerobics is that not only does it provide you with all of the benefits that regular aerobic classes provide, such as dancing aerobics, but you can also receive some unique benefits. Step aerobics is a great way to help you become physically fit, as well as a great way to make you feel better about yourself.

Here are some ways that step aerobics can help you.

Number one:
Step aerobics helps you because it provides you with a great high calorie burning workout, no matter what level of step aerobics you are doing. In a normal fifty minute step aerobic workout you can burn anywhere from 250 to 400 calories, how much you actually burn depends on your weight and your level of exertion. And one of the best things about burning calories is that you are burning fat at the same time which means it can help you to lose weight.

Number two:
Step aerobics also helps you because it can significantly increase the HDL cholesterol levels. While various forms of aerobics will help decrease your cholesterol levels, step aerobics is the only form that has been found to increase your good cholesterol levels. The reason that step aerobics increases the HDL cholesterol levels is because it is more vigorous than other forms of aerobics and the more vigorous the exercise the better the change in HDL cholesterol levels.

Number three:
Like other types of aerobics step aerobics can help your body's endurance and stamina. But in order to increase your body's endurance and stamina the step aerobics workout must be performed and practiced on a regular basis, which means that you need to set up a schedule and stick to it when, such as how many times a week and how long of a workout you are going to perform.
