In order to know what yoga aerobics are you are going to need to know a little bit about yoga and aerobics, as individual forms of exercise. The reason that you are going to need to know what yoga and aerobics are is because there is actually no such thing as yoga aerobics. Basically yoga aerobics is using yoga as a form of aerobics. So let's take a minute to learn a little bit about yoga and aerobics.

What is yoga?
In a way yoga is a form of exercise, but it also goes beyond exercise. Yoga is all about uniting the mind, body and spirit with God, so in a way yoga is also a spiritual practice. But in the West yoga has been converted into a form of exercise because people tend to leave out the spiritual aspect of yoga.

There are many different forms of yoga but regardless of which form you are practicing you are going to be using three main techniques: breathing, mediation and postures. What kind of techniques you are going to be using will depend on what style of yoga you are practicing. But another thing that you need to know about yoga is that the different styles of yoga also have different intensity levels, which has to do with how the postures are done. Some styles are slow flowing, which means that you slowly go from one posture to the next, while others are continuous flow, which means you are constantly changing your postures one right after the other. Another style of yoga involves practicing the postures and breathing in a heated room so that you can purify your body through the sweat that you are producing.

So as you can see yoga has many benefits besides being a form of exercise but that still doesn't explain how yoga and aerobics can be combined together. So let's take a minute to learn a little bit more about aerobics.

What is aerobics?
Aerobics is basically a form of exercise that uses repetitive movements for an extended period of time so that you can workout both your heart and lungs. The purpose of aerobic exercise is to improve the amount of oxygen in your blood through an increased heart rate and deep breathing. There are many different types of aerobic exercises that can be used to work both your heart and lungs, but in addition to working out your heart and lungs aerobics is actually the fastest way to burn calories.

The main point of aerobics is to get your heart rate up to your target level and then hold it there for a period of time. And like other forms of exercise, including yoga, you are going to want to start off with a warm up period and then move into your exercise routine and then end with a cool down period, so that you lower your chances of becoming injured.

So now that we know a little bit about aerobics and yoga we can now see how the two can fit together to make what some people call yoga aerobics.

What is yoga aerobics?
Yoga aerobics is basically using a power style of yoga, which would be continuous postures, as a form of exercise. The reason why you want to use a power style of yoga is because the movements are faster and can be repetitive which will give you the aerobic workout that you are aiming for. Yoga can also be considered a form of aerobics because it uses breathing techniques to help keep the blood oxygenated.
