What you need for an at home beauty spa

If you were to visit a beauty spa you would generally select from a number of different spa treatments in order to pamper yourself and relax. These treatments usually include manicures and pedicures, facials, body wraps, waxing, and massages. While some of these treatment options should not or cannot be done at home, many of them can, the following is a look at what you need for an at home beauty spa:

For a home pedicure:

A foot bath.

If you are going to get a pedicure you always start by soaking your feet. You can buy a rather inexpensive foot bath for around $10-$15, or you can buy a higher end one that massages, has jets, etc. for much more. Soaking your feet in a foot bath that has jasmine oil, or some other relaxing fragrance, such as mint, is the first step to at home spa treatments.

A foot file.

Once your feet have soaked in the cooling, calming waters, you are going to scrub off any dead skin or calluses they might have. Most women focus on the heels of their feet, the sides, of their feet, and if they have hammer toes, or any toes that might be higher than the others, the tops of those toes as well. You would use a foot file or a great exfoliate to scrub off this dead skin, then soak again.

A foot cream or lotion.

Once you have soaked and exfoliated you will want to hydrate the foot with a great cream or lotion. An herbal foot cream is a great choice as it can help with circulation, and cools the feet. It also can keep them cool and dry when you are wearing shoes.

Cuticle remover.

Once feet are to this stage you would use a cuticle remover to get rid of the long cuticle skin covering parts of the nail bed. You may use a cuticle remover stick as well as a cream type product.

Nail file.

At this point nails are clipped and shaped using clippers and a nail file. This can easily be done at home with a regular pair of clippers, and a new nail file.

Polish.

Once shaped, they should be rinsed to eliminate any nail dust, then dried. Once dry a great polish should be applied. Let it dry and apply a second coat.

Facial:

A good cleaner.

You are going to start a facial with a good cleanser. Some women will start a pot of hot water on the stove, and hold their face over the steam to open the pores and prepare the face for the facial treatment. If you do this before cleansing the face, be sure to do so safely as steam can burn. Wash face well, using circular movements with your middle fingers.

Face mask.

Once you have cleansed your face it is time to use a product like a face mask. There are all sorts of masks available, such as exfoliating masks, etc. Choose whichever you prefer, just be sure to test it first to ensure you do not have a reaction to what is in it. Follow face mask directions.

Toner.

Once you remove your face mask you will want to use a toner to get rid of anything left on the skin.

Moisturizer.

Follow the cleansing and toning up with a great daily moisturizer. This will leave your face feeling clean and smooth.

Manicure:

For a manicure at home you will use many of the same products you use for the pedicure. You will want to clean the nail beds well, shape the nails, remove the cuticles, polish them, and hydrate the hands with lotion.
