When you should do yoga

There are millions of people around the world who have taken to yoga and do it faithfully. It has become a very popular form of exercise because it can increase flexibility and help you feel relaxed. Yoga offers a series of exercises that can be done anywhere, without equipment, and at almost any time that is convenient and fits with your schedule.

Yoga is most successful when it is done for about twenty to twenty five minutes a day. If you have decided to try out this new form of exercise make sure that you have at least that much time set a side to get the full benefits of yoga. This is a form of exercise that can truly help you fell relaxed and relieve some much needed stress. But how do you know when you should do yoga?

Well, since there is no set time that yoga should be done, it is really a personal preference. Here are some suggestions as to when you can do yoga and some reasoning behind them.

First thing in the Morning
Many people who do yoga will often begin their day with it; why? Well yoga has done wonders for increasing circulation in your body and what better way to start off the day than to get the blood flowing to all the right places. It's easier to get the day started right; eating a healthy breakfast, and getting off to work happy and ready to accomplish things. As yoga can also help relieve stress this has proven to be an advantage, especially for those who work a stress 8-5 job.

Lunch Hour Break
If you're just not a morning person and don't feel that yoga will do anything for you in the morning, then try doing it during your lunch hour. Since it requires no special equipment you can run home and pop it in the television quickly, run the gym to catch a lunch hour class, or even do it at work (if you can find a room). Lunch hours can be a good time to do yoga because it can offer a stress relief from the morning's work load and give you the extra energy you need to finish out the day. It might also encourage you to eat a healthier lunch.

While you are working
This may sound a little odd, as some people don't want to draw attention to themselves, but if you have a job where you sit at the computer all day then yoga is the perfect exercise for you. A desk job can result in lower back pains and repetitive stress injuries. By taking a few minutes every day to do some stretching at your desk you can relieve some of that tension and stress. Others may find it a little odd, but honestly if it cuts out the back pain and headaches from a stiff neck does it really matter?

Before you go to bed
As yoga can help with relaxation you might want to consider doing it before you go to bed. Some people find it so relaxing that it can help them get a better night's rest. It also might be the only quiet time for you (if you have kids) so try and do some yoga before you hit the sack. Other fitness programs may require more physical exertion, waking you up too much that you won't sleep at all. If you don't sleep well, then try doing some yoga before you go to bed.

These of course are only some suggestions as to when you should do yoga. Since there are no machines needed to perform the exercises, it is really personal preference as to when you can fit it into your schedule.
