Why buying a treadmill is one of the smartest things that you can do

You want to workout but you never seem to have the time. It takes you a half an hour to get to the gym, plus some days you just don't feel like dealing with the gym and all of the meatheads that hang out there. Rather than going to the gym and standing in line to workout on some machine, why not just buy the machine and put it in your own house. Not a bad idea, huh? In this article, I will try to make a case for why buying a treadmill is one of the smartest things that you can do.
The first factor is the time factor. Having a treadmill in your house will save you time. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get a minimum-benefit cardio workout. For most people it takes at least that long to get from their home to the gym and back again. If you can get a workout at home in the same amount of time that you would spend driving to get a workout at the gym, why bother with the gym at all. It seems to me it would be smarter to buy a treadmill and work out with out going anywhere.

Another angle on the time factor is the times that you are available to workout. If your life is even a little hectic, it might be hard to stick to a gym schedule. True, many gyms are now open 24 hours a day but that doesn't necessarily make it convenient to do thing like get a baby sitter when you want to do your 40-minute workout at 11:00 at night. It doesn't make it convenient to wait for the plumber to show up while you get your workout done and it doesn't make it convenient when you are ready to workout during rush hour traffic. Make your life much more convenient and workout when ever you have the time to workout by not having to leave home to do it.
Another factor is the boredom factor. Today's gyms often feature music and some of them even have televisions screens where you can watch the news or bad music videos. This is a great step in the right direction when it comes to eliminating boredom but it isn't the optimal solution. If you have certain shows that you just have to watch every week, you can use that schedule to help you with your workouts. Simply put the treadmill in front of the television and you can both watch your show and be dedicated to your workout routine. Being efficient, also known as killing two birds with one stone, is really smart.
It is not just television shows that you can enjoy from the comfort of your treadmill; you can watch movies or listen to music as well. If you are really desperate, you can even talk on the phone. Whatever it is that will help you stay with your workout schedule, do those things. It's going to be much better to entertain yourself when you workout than to count on the people at the gym to entertain you.
A final factor to consider is that you can work out in your home without getting cleaned up or even brushing your teeth. A workout on a home treadmill is a "come as you are" affair. If you are completely undone, stinky and dirty, you probably wouldn't be caught dead at the gym. But it's easy enough to put your manky self on your own treadmill. After all, when you work out at home there is no one to see you or to judge you. That's a pretty good reason to buy a treadmill.
