Many people who practice yoga do not simply practice yoga they actually embrace it as a lifestyle. The reason that they embrace yoga as a lifestyle is that it has been said that you can not benefit from the practice of yoga if you only do it once a week, basically in order to receive the maximum benefit of yoga you are going to need to embrace it as a lifestyle. It has been said that in order to benefit completely from yoga you are going to need to practice this once a day, in fact this has been proven to be the fastest way to make progress with self realization, since you are devoting time to yoga everyday you are able to spend more time connecting with your spirit and your higher selves.

There are other benefits to embracing yoga as a lifestyle, such as good health, weight loss, relaxation and a stress free life to name a few. And the best news is that you can actually embrace yoga as a lifestyle rather easily. All you need to do to maintain a yoga lifestyle is to follow the three main aspects involved in maintaining a yoga lifestyle.

The three main aspects in maintaining a yoga lifestyle are:

  • Yama and Niyama - this is the first and second parts of the eight fold yoga path of Patanjali. Yama is basically practicing the five don'ts of yoga, also called self restraint. The five don'ts of yoga are violence and killing, lying or untruthfulness, stealing and misappropriation, continence and celibacy, and greed and selfishness. Niyama is the five do's of yoga, also known as observance. The five do's of yoga are purity in thoughts, deeds and body, contentment with self, spiritual discipline, spiritual learning, and surrender to God.

  • Asana and Pranayama - this is the daily physical and breathing exercise. Asana is the daily physical poses that are involved in yoga and Pranayama is the breathing exercises that are involved in your daily yoga. Both the physical and breathing exercises can change and in fact they do develop over time and as you improve at yoga. They can also be adapted to fit your yoga needs by a yoga instructor.

  • Right diet - here you are going to want to make sure that you eat pure, simple and wholesome foods. Many people who embrace yoga as a lifestyle become vegans because of how healthy the food is and how good it can make you feel, but this is something that is optional. All you need to do is to pay attention to your diet so that your body can better absorb the food and so you can gain the most from eating the right foods.

But in order to successfully embrace yoga as a lifestyle you are going to have to come up with a daily routine that will work for your lifestyle. But along with figuring out a daily routine to follow you are also going to need to follow it to be successful. And obviously the more time you can dedicate to practicing yoga the faster you will be able to see results.

Here is a suggested daily routine for a yoga lifestyle.

Step one:
The first thing that is recommended in this daily plan is to get up at 4 am because that is the time that will give you the best and fastest results because it is the time at which a connection to God can be the easiest and greatest to obtain. Not to mention that since the rest of the household is still asleep you will be undisturbed while practicing.

Step two:
The second step is to start each morning off with a cleansing routine which will help in purifying the body before beginning your daily yoga routine. The purity of the body helps to bring purity in thoughts, actions and deeds.

Step three:
The next step is mediation and Japa. This is to help put your mind, body and spirit into the right "frame of mind" so that you can begin practicing your yoga exercises. The point of this step is to relax your mind and body so you can benefit from the physical and breathing exercises in step four.

Step four:
The last step is to practice your Asana and Pranayama which is your daily physical and breathing exercises that have been given to you by your instructor. These should be the last things that you d, the first three steps are intended to prepare yourself for the final step in the routine.
