People who are interested in doing yoga will quickly learn that yoga is more than just a work out. Sure, with a yoga work out you are able to exercise and decrease your stress, but yoga is so much more than that! The focus of yoga is spiritual, physical, and mental well being. In order to get complete well being, you will really need to change your whole lifestyle, and not just change your type of work out. Here are some of the ways that yoga is just a lifestyle and not just a work out!

  • Yoga involves a healthy diet: One of the important things that is part of the yoga lifestyle is a healthy diet. When you are eating healthy food, you are able to have a better physical well being. You will feel better and be able to feel more energy. Simple, wholesome, pure foods are recommended for people who are dedicated to the yoga lifestyle. Sometimes these foods are also called Sattvic foods. You can find a lot of wholesome, simple foods located in your local health food store. If you are dedicated to yoga, then start eating healthy, wholesome food right away!
  • Wake up early: One of the things that are also part of the yoga lifestyle is waking up early. It is suggested that yoga advocates wake up at 4:00 every single morning. This is found to be the best time to do meditation or yoga. All of the most important parts of spiritual practice are supposed to be completed from 4:00 in the morning until about 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning. These early hours in the morning are called the "ambrosial hours," and these hours are found to be the best time for people to have a connection with God. In addition, these hours are also usually the quiet hours in the morning, so you can perform yoga without distractions from other people or noise.
It should be remembered that a lot of will power is going to be required for you to wake up this early. You will need to have a lot of self discipline in order to go to bed early and wake up early. However, part of this self discipline and control is essential and closely connected to the body control of yoga movements. If you can control yourself to wake up early, it will be easier for you to develop the self control in other aspects of yoga as well!
  • Morning cleansing routing: Another way that yoga is a lifestyle and not just a workout is because of the morning cleansing routing. It is important to remember that purity of the body can help bring about purity in actions and thoughts. Morning cleansing routines can help to bring about this complete purity and cleanliness. Essentially, the morning cleansing routine is to help the body become purified before beginning the daily Sadhana. By doing this morning cleansing routine, you will be able to purify the spirit and the mind. In addition, it is important to do this morning cleansing routine because the body should be cleansed, dressed in clean clothes, and placed in a sacred space that will help them to meditate and be spiritually nourished.
As you can see, yoga is so much more than just a work out that you go to once a week. Instead, yoga is a lifestyle that is integrated to all aspects of your life. If you are really dedicated to feeling the whole effects of yoga, then you should start incorporating these lifestyle aspects into your own life!
