When it comes time to do some spring-cleaning and organize your home many people get faint at the idea. The reason for this is that trying to organize your home seems like a lot of work, especially if you happen to have a big home or a messy home. The good news is that organizing your home does not have to be hard or scary at all. If you follow some tips on organizing your home, you will be done before you even know it.

Here are some tips that you should follow to help you organize your home.

Tip one:

Make sure that you think small. When thinking about organizing your home rather than thinking about everything that needs to be done, think about one or two small projects that you can do and begin doing those. By thinking about everything that needs to be done it is easy to get overwhelmed at the thought of organizing your home.

Tip two:

When getting ready to organize your home you are going to need to schedule a time to do it. This is important because unless you have a studio chances are you will not be able to clean and organize your home in one day. You will want to set aside a time each day that you can dedicate to organizing your home, such as one or two hours each day. If you just jump in and try to get everything done in one day chances are when you stop organizing you won't go back and finish.

Tip three:

Plan what you are going to be doing ahead of time. Sit down and write a list of the things you need to do in each room to help you organize the room. Plan what you are going to do each day and make sure that you get at least that much accomplished. When planning your day make sure that you plan a time that you will not be distracted, this way you can stay focused on the task.

Tip four:

When getting rid of the clutter in certain spots you might decide you want to use that's pace for something else. Before you get rid of the clutter, decide what you are going to be doing with that space so that as soon as the clutter is gone you can put that space to good use. Using the space as soon as the clutter is gone will help prevent more clutter from accumulating there.

Tip five:

Get the equipment you will need to organize your home ready before you begin cleaning. Gather trash bags and donation boxes to bring with you into different rooms of the house. You also need to gather any cleaning products and equipment that you might need, such as brooms and mops. The most important thing is to have boxes or bags handy so you can separate stuff as you are getting rid of it, such as donation, garage sale, or trash.

Tip six:

When going through a closet or a dresser you can go through it, one drawer at a time or one section at a time or you can throw everything onto the bed in one huge pile and start going through it. The best thing to do to help get rid of stuff, and reorganize how everything is being stored is to dump it out on a clear space and begin going through it.

Tip seven:

Once you have gotten the surface areas clean you are going to want to dust the area of and clean it up. Once the area has been cleared from clutter thoroughly clean it so it looks new and inviting again. Keeping an area clutter free is easier when the surface is new and inviting.

Tip eight:

Of course, you are not going to leave your cleared surfaces empty and boring, most surfaces have a few picture frames or magazines that belong on them. Once you have cleaned the area you will want to put back only the item that belong on the surface. If you keep magazines on the coffee table, make sure you throw out the old ones and replace them with newer magazines.

Tip nine:

Once you have gotten through every room in your house you will need to make sure that you take care of the boxes immediately. If it is garbage go outside and throw it in the trash can, if the box is full of donations put it in your car and take it to the nearest drop off as soon as possible. You can also call the donation centers to come out and pick up your unwanted stuff if the amount is large enough. You just need to make sure that you put away all of the equipment that you used, if you leave it sitting around you just defeated the purpose of organizing your home.

Tip ten:

Once you have gotten everything nice and tidy you will need to make sure that you keep it that way. Do not just set something aside to put it away later, instead take the time required to put it away now. The best thing to do is to do a 20 minute clean up before you go to bed, making sure that everything gets put back where it belongs, have your kids do it before they go to bed too.
