Are you interested in learning how to garden? When you are gardening, there are a lot of tools that you can use to help you in the gardening process! These tools not only help your work to go faster and more efficiently, but they also can help to reduce some of the physical strain that can come from gardening! Here is a look at gardening tools:

  • Spade: A spade is one of the most helpful tools that a gardener can have. A spade is a small hand shovel that is useful for digging holes for planting. Spades are especially useful for gardeners that have smaller flower beds. They also can be used to help till and turn soil in a small garden bed. In addition, you can use spades to help get the ground loose when you are trying to pull out stubborn weeds!
  • Shovel: Shovels are also helpful for digging holes for planting, and they are often used in replace of spades for larger garden beds. Shovels are also helpful if you have to dig an exceptionally deep or large hole, which is usually determined by the size of the plant that you are want to grow in your garden. In addition, shovels are useful for breaking up hard or dry ground, because you can step and jump on the top of the shovel head.
  • Hoe: If you have a large garden, or if you are interested in planting your garden in rows, then you will want to use a hoe for sure! Garden hoes are helpful in digging the lines for row gardens. In addition, hoes are also used to help loosen up the ground when weeding, and you can often get a hoe to also pull up weeds as well!
  • Wheelbarrow: If you have a large garden, then you really won't want to be found without a wheelbarrow. Wheelbarrows are very helpful tools because they allow gardeners to transport a lot of soil, fertilizer, mulch, or what-have-you without a lot of strain on the body. In addition, wheelbarrows also are helpful tools because they can reduce the amount of trips that it might take to transport an item - instead of carrying over small shovelfuls of dirt, you can do it all in one trip with a wheelbarrow!
  • Watering can: Watering cans are also a helpful type of gardening tool which can be used in large or small gardens. Watering cans allow gardeners to carry water over to their garden, and then they are able to use the can to sprinkle the water onto the plants. However, if you have a very large garden, you might want to consider using a hose to help water your plants instead of a watering can - it might take too long for you to water a lot of plants with a watering can.
  • Gloves: As a gardener, you will often find gloves to come in handy, especially if you are growing prickly plants in your garden like roses! Gloves not only protect your hands from getting pricked by thorns, but they also keep your hands and fingernails clean. In addition, gloves can also help prevent calluses and sores that can come from working hard in the garden!
  • Clippers: If you are interested in growing flowers in your garden, you will want to have some kind of clippers or pruners to help you dead head your flowers. Clippers are also useful if you are trying to train a plant to grow in a certain direction, such as up a trellis. Any serious gardener will own a clipper among all of their other gardening tools!
