You've been scrubbing your kitchen floor, cupboards, and counters for hours. All of the dishes are washed and put away where they go. The oven has been cleaned, you've scrubbed your stove off, and you have washed all of your towels and your dish cloths. But you're still not gone, and the part of your cleaning that you have left to do is one of the most frustrating and aggravating aspects for anybody who is trying to clean their kitchen: tile grout.

When tile grout gets dirty and stained, it's impossible to ignore it. But it can be incredibly difficult to get that tile grout clean. There's no magical method that doesn't require you to get down on your hands and your knees to scrub your grout, but there are a number of "fail-safe" remedies that are floating around that don't work, only work every once in a while, or will actually ruin your tiles, destroy any fabric that they touch, and can actually be deadly if you are mixing chemicals that react in a very dangerous way.

So here are some methods for cleaning the tile grout in your kitchen or in your bathroom. These different methods will work, though you may have to try them a couple times. Always remember that you need to test any cleaning method on an area of your tile grout to make sure that it will not stain your tiles or your grout.

Chlorine bleach

Chlorine bleach is one of the most traditional ways to clean the tile grout in your kitchen or the tile grout in your bathrooms. Chlorine bleach will kill mold if you dilute the chlorine bleach with water, and then scrub your tile grout with an old toothbrush (a clean toothbrush!). Chlorine bleach can remove stains from your tile grout. However, if you have colored grout or colored tiles, then the chlorine bleach can remove color. Also, if you happen to spill the chlorine bleach on any carpets or rugs nearby, then it will stain the material. Also, the fumes from the chlorine bleach can irritate any people who are in the area, and can also irritate pets.

Oxygen bleach powder

One of the best ways to clean the tile grout in your kitchen or your bathrooms is with oxygen bleach powder, which is safer than chlorine bleach. You can easily mix the oxygen bleach powder with water. There aren't any dangerous and irritating fumes with oxygen bleach powder, as there are with chlorine bleach. Also, oxygen bleach powder will not ruin the color of your grout or your tiles, and it won't hurt any fabrics that are nearby.

Once you have mixed the oxygen bleach powder with water based on the instructions on the packaging, apply the solution to your tile grout and let the solution sit for 30 minutes or 60 minutes. If the oxygen bleach solution dries up during that time period, then you should add more so that there is always oxygen bleach solution on the grout during the time period.

After the 30 minutes to 60 minutes waiting time is over, then you should scrub the grout lightly. Then use a mop to mop up the dirty water, then rinse your floor with clean water. Then you should let your floor dry before you walk on it. Make sure that you look carefully at the package in order to ensure that you don't buy a powder that is full of fillers.
