Christmas snowman: Feature Article

The Christmas snowman is a symbol of the winter holiday season. A snowman is a figure molded out of snow. Most snowmen are not taller than the person who builds them. Snowmen can be any size you like and decorated with anything you like. There are a couple different ways you can construct a snowman.

The snow must be hard enough to form together. Snow that is fluffy will not mould together and form a ball. The traditional snowman has 3 different sized balls pilled on top of each other. You will make a large ball for the base, a medium sized ball for the body, and a smaller ball for the head. The other method of building a snowman is to roll one large sized ball for the body and a smaller one for the head.

In order to build a snowman, you need to make sure you have enough snow to build it. If you have a large yard or area with a lot of snow, you will be able to build a large snowman. A small area will require that you have a lot of deep snow in order to build a large snowman. The snow needs to be of the correct consistency. Snow that is too powdery will not compact well and snow that is too wet will not mould well.

Making a snowman will take some time, so you need to wrap up in warm clothing. Your snowman will also need clothing such as hats, scarves, coats, gloves, and buttons or coals for eyes and a carrot for a nose. When you make the snowman, try not to use snow that gets too close to the ground. Snow that is rolled up next to the ground will have leaves, twigs and grass in it and will change the look of your snowman.

To start making a snowman, you need to start by making a snowball. Compact the snowball and roll it along the ground so more snow sticks to it and roll it around the ground, collecting more snow until it becomes the size you want. Once the snowball becomes large, you may need to have another person help you lift it. The best way to make a snowball is to make sure it is perfectly rounded. All the balls should be different sized and the largest one should be on bottom, then the medium-sized ball, and lastly the smallest ball will be placed on top. It will help if you flatten the side where the smaller ball is placed on the larger ball.

Your snowman should look proportionate so make sure the head isn't too small. Once you have the basic shape of your snowman, you can decorate it. Most snowmen have arms that are made from sticks. Be careful about the way you insert sticks into the sides of the snowman or else it will fall apart. The eyes of the snowman can be made with small lumps of coal or buttons. Three buttons can be inserted down the front of the snowman and then a row is made in the face for a smile. Pebbles or stones can be used for the eyes and smile.

The nose of the snowman can be made with a large button or with a carrot. When you insert the carrot, you need to be gentle so you don't break the snow or the carrot. If you don't have a carrot, you can use a rock, twigs, or anything you can find. Scarves and hats are the easiest items to decorate your snowman.

Most snowmen are male, but you can make a snowwoman by giving it a flowery hat or scarf. Many people like to make a complete snow family, including a snow dog or snowcap. Your snowman will only last as long as the weather holds up. Rain or an increase in temperature will almost certainly melt your snowman.

Snowmen are a wonderful symbol of the Christmas holiday. Christmas snowmen can be found practically anywhere during the holiday season. There are several snowmen crafts you can make in a matter of minutes. To celebrate the Christmas season, here are some tips to help you make some Christmas snowmen of your own.

Pop Bottle Snowman
A fun pop bottle snowman is a great way to celebrate the Christmas season and decorate your home. Here are a few of the materials you need, 2 liter pop or water bottles, sand, small candle holder, sandpaper, paint, felt, wiggle eyes, and craft clay. Using your scissors; cut off the top of the bottle below the neck then you will use sandpaper to lightly sand the outside of the bottle.

Use paint to paint the outside of the bottle and once it has adhered to the bottle, you need to let it dry and then coat it with some varnish. Paint the bottle at least twice so the whole bottle is covered. You can use some glitter and lightly dust the bottle to add some sparkle to the snowman.

You can decorate your pop bottle snowman with wiggle eyes. Paint can be used to paint the mouths and cheeks. Use some clay for the nose and glue it to the face of the bottle. Using some felt, make a small hat for the snowman. Add some sand to each bottle to weigh it down. The candle and candle holder will be placed inside the bottle, on top of the sand. Be careful when you place the candle so it doesn't melt the edges of the bottle. The pop bottle snowmen are a great way to light up your driveway during the harsh winter months.

Light Bulb Snowman
A light bulb snowman is a great gift to pass out to your friends and neighbors for the Christmas holiday. In order to construct a light bulb snowman, you need to have a light bulb, thin ribbon, child's sock, buttons, snow paint, scrap felt, and glue. Start by painting the light bulb with snow paint. Leave the neck portion of your light bulb clean since you will need to tie ribbon there to be the hanger. Allow the paint to completely dry and tie a piece of ribbon around the neck of the light bulb. Add some glue to the ribbon so it stays put. The ribbon will be the hanger for your light bulb ornament, so make sure you make it long enough. Use the child's sock to make the stocking cap for your light bulb snowman. Cut off the top of the sock and slide it over the neck of the bulb. The ribbon should come through the top of the sock. Roll the edge of the sock onto the light bulb and secure it in place with some glue.

Tie a piece of ribbon around the top edge of the sock and tie it to the end of the light bulb. Now tie a bow and trim off any excess ribbon. Use glue to secure any edges that may be coming off. Once you have this part completed, you will make the face of the snowman. Use small buttons for the eyes, and some clay for the nose. Small circles from black felt can easily be used to for the buttons of the snowman, or they can be used for the face.

Marshmallow snowmen
Here is a fun item that can be used for a Christmas party. Using a bag of large marshmallows, you will transform them into cute snowmen. You will need some chow mein noodles, orange tic-tacs, multi-colored tic-tacs, melted chocolate, and some assorted candies.

Use a small drop of melted chocolate and glue two marshmallows together. Attach another marshmallow to the top marshmallow, so you have 3 marshmallows altogether. Use some chow mein noodles to become the arms of the snowman. Stick the chow mein noodles into the second marshmallow to be the arms. If you don't have chow mein noodles, you can also use pretzels.

The tic-tacs will be used for the buttons of the marshmallows and for the eyes and mouth. The orange tic-tac will become the nose of the snowman. Use chocolate to hold the tic-tacs onto the marshmallow. Use M&Ms, sprinkles, frosting, and other food items to finish decorating your snowmen. Marshmallow snowmen make cute decorations on your dinner plates and are a tasty delight with a cup of hot chocolate.

During the Christmas season, you can find several Christmas snowmen. There are several movies that focus on Christmas snowmen, such as "Frosty the Snowman". Snowmen are a popular symbol of the Christmas holiday and can be enjoyed even past the Christmas holiday. For many years, constructing a snowman has been a Christmas tradition in many countries. Building a snowman is a fun activity that can involve your entire family. Most snowmen can be constructed in 30 minutes or less, depending upon the size of snowman you build and how many you choose to construct. Just remember to dress warm when you are building a snowman or else you could wind up becoming one yourself!
