Cleaning ceiling fans and light fixtures

For most people it's easy to forget to clean ceiling fans because the fans are above eye level. Also a lot of people are too busy to get a chair and look. So the best way to tell if your fan is dirty is the wall will be dirty, or if things around your fan seem collect a lot dust in a faster pace than normal.

You will want to get a washcloth damp with warm water and then begin cleaning your light fixtures and ceiling fan. The wash clothes should work just fine for cleaning the dust unlike a feather duster. Also you can try and use chemically dust wipes or other dust cleaners.

Now it is time to clean your lights. Before getting started you will need to turn off your lights. This is so that you don't get burned, when cleaning them. Let them cool off tell they are cooled down enough that you can touch them without getting burned. About a half hour or more if the light has been on for a long period of time. You don't want to get burned.

If you are planning to clean your laps, than you will want to unplug them. This is to reduce the chance of getting electrocuted. Also so you can move them around to clean all sides.

Next you will need to shut off all your ceiling fans. This is so that you don't risk the chance that someone turning on the light switch and the fan hitting your head. Also depending on how good you want to clean your fans or light fixtures you can take them apart and clean each part separately.

Now you might need a step latter or some kind of chair. Any thing you usually use to clean high places will work also. For most ceiling fans this will be necessary. This is so that you can clean the fan better and get the best results.

You're going to need a warm damp washcloth so that you can clean your light fixtures and ceiling fans. This is the time to clean all individual parts of your ceiling fans and light fixtures. In addition any light bulbs, and any other associated parts.

Over the months light bulbs burn out so that is the reason you will need the new light bulbs. Wail you are finishing your ceiling fans and light fixtures this is a perfect time to replace the old light bulbs with the new ones.

This is a good time to clean off any other parts that you might have missed along the way, and a good time to wipe off your new light bulbs, to make shore that they don't have any dirt or grime on them as well.
