Container gardening

basil60503575.jpgContainer gardening is one of the newest trends in gardening. It is contained, easier to deal with weeds, and gives you ideal growth conditions. The following are some of the biggest benefits of container gardening:

1. Mobility. One of the best reasons for considering a container garden is the mobility they offer. Some plants require extensive sunshine, or extensive shade in order to thrive. If you want your garden to work well, the best way to ensure it gets what it needs is being able to move it. Moving a plant into the sun, or shade, as necessary can help you grow better, stronger plants. You can't do that in a normal garden plot, but you can in a container garden. Obviously if you need to move the container, you don't want the container garden to be too large, as it may be difficult to move. One option is to put it on wheels, or some sort of device to help make it even more mobile.

2. Flexibility. A container garden offers you more flexibility. You can plant it where you want, even if the soil is poor, or you have limited space. It offers you the ability to separate the different kinds of plants you use, and water according to their specific needs. Flexibility in gardening is a huge plus, and container gardening gives you that advantage. If you have rocky, or terrible soil, you can get soil from a nursery that is full of nutrients, and use it to fill your container garden. Thus, no matter what your soil conditions, you can have a great, productive garden. The flexibility of it will make any other garden look like it is from the middle ages.

3. Restricts growing space. One of the huge pluses of a container garden is that it allows you to contain plants that may otherwise take over a different garden. For example, mints, which spread like crazy unless you contain them with borders, would only grow in the container. Strawberries tend to spread a lot as well, which makes them hard to plant near other plants in a typical backyard garden. If you plant them in a container garden, you get the delicious red berries, without stressing that they are going to take over the tomato patch, or your squash. This is a great advantage for someone who wants mint, but doesn't want all of his or her garden space to be covered in it.

A container garden makes for a great garden. It is pretty, it is flexible, it is great for first timers or for people who have been growing gardens for years. In addition, you can make it as large, or as small as you would like, and use high end materials like a vinyl container, or whatever you have lying around, such as terracotta pots, tires, etc.
