Creating a clutter free home

bedroom63499487.jpgA clutter free home is not out of your reach. Many people find that the longer they live somewhere, the more cluttered it becomes. The following are some great tips for creating a clutter free home:

1. Be dedicated.
The fact is, clutter is a normal part of life, but only if you let it be. No one has to live with clutter that doesn't want to. So, help yourself out by deciding right now that clutter is not going to be a factor in your life. When you make the choice to dedicate yourself to creating a clutter free home, you will find that you take advantage of your spare moments to eliminate clutter. For example, you might find that you have time to clear off a desk while on the phone, or organize a sock drawer while you choose your outfit for the day.

2. Have a list of places to clear of clutter each week, and cycle through it. If you want a clutter free home, you have to decide what places are cluttered, so you have directions as to where to focus your efforts. Make a list of all of the places in your house that need some attention, prioritize that list, and then start at spot one. However, it is important to understand that clutter, once cleared, does not always stay gone. In fact, clutter has a way of creeping back up on you. So, one of the things you have to do is make it through the whole list of clutter, then start again at the very top. Once you start at the top, and complete the list again, you go back up to the stop. It is an endless cycle, but you will find that as you go through the clutter a few times, you will be ahead of the game, and you will want to stay there, so it will be easier to avoid creating the clutter in the first place. Instead of tossing things wherever is easiest, you put them where they go.

3. Create bins to help eliminate clutter: This can help you stay on top of clutter because suddenly those things you never know what to do with, have a place to go. The following are some of the bin types you should create to help you have a clutter free home.
a. Keep bin. This is the bin for stuff you want to keep, but that you are not using right now. For example, maybe you are clearing a closet of clothing, and it is clothes that no longer fit your child, but you have another child that will fit into them later. This is stuff you get out of the way until it is needed.

b. Recycle. This is a bin for things that you are getting rid of, but that are recyclable. This is a great bin because it means having a way to get rid of clutter and help the earth.

c. Sell/donate. This is a box of things that you are getting rid of, and want to either sell or give away to someone, or donate to a facility like the Salvation Army.
