Do it yourself bedroom remodeling

bedroom63499487.jpgRemodeling your home is a great opportunity to add different elements that represent you and what you enjoy in life. Whether you are remodeling your kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, make the room into what you want it to be. The bedroom is where you spend time sleeping and preparing for the days ahead. When you arrive in your bedroom, you want a place that you can relax and take a deep breath. It is your place away from the outside world.

Remodeling your home yourself will give you the chance to add extra space into your bedroom that you are looking for, the paint colors or wallpaper that you want to use and the artwork that you will enjoy. Start to remodel your bedroom by having a few ideas. Write your ideas down and price them out. The more prepared you are with a budget, the more you know what you can and cannot do to your bedroom. Once you have your idea in place and you know your budget, empty the bedroom out and take measurements. You need to measure the dimensions of the bedroom and windows if you intend to add new window coverings.

Adding new paint is the number one factor that many home owners decide to do when they remodel a bedroom. The paint color you decide to use will determine if you can relax in your bedroom or if the color will keep you awake at night. Use cool colors in your bedroom to help you relax. These colors can range from lighter shades of blue, green or yellow. If you want to use a brighter color, such as red or orange, be sure you select a shade that is not to bold. The bolder the color is, the more tense and anxiety you will feel. Decide if you are going to paint the entire room or if you are going to paint one or two walls as access walls. The brighter and bolder the color, the fewer amount of walls you will want to paint.

Choose a theme that will represent the bedroom you are remodeling. For example, if you are planning on painting the bedroom a light shade of green, consider using black and white photos or sepia photos on the wall as artwork. The photos you use can be photographs you have taken yourself or ones that you have purchased. Create a theme of the outdoors, as a beach or the woods. The photos you choose will add an element of relaxation to the room.

Adding storage to any room is a needed necessity. As you are remodeling the bedroom, look for areas that you can add storage to. The closet is a great place to add extra bins or add an extra row for a clothes rack. The more places you have to store your personal belongings, the fewer amounts of items will be open for people to use and go through. If you are remolding a child's bedroom, purchase a toy box that you can place in their closet. The toys that they have will be out of sight.

Space is an issue for many bedrooms. Many homes will have smaller rooms that you will need to place a bed into, dresser and any other items that you use. Place your dresser into your bedroom closet to add more room. You can also turn one of your spare bedrooms into a closet. The closet can be used by any family member. This will give you the extra storage space that you are looking for. Your bedrooms will look cleaner and fresher.
