Family lawyer
Family lawyers (or attorneys) are needed in many situations. A family lawyer is trained in all the complicated laws that have to do with (you guessed it) families. But first perhaps we should consider what lawyers or attorneys are good for in general.
A lawyer or attorney is someone who's been trained extensively in the law. There are literally thousands and thousands of laws out there for people to break. Oftentimes people don't even know about the laws they're breaking, or, if someone else has broken the law and hurt them, they're not aware of how they're being hurt. A lawyer or attorney is necessary in any of these situations. A lawyer or attorney will step in to help unravel the tangle that occurs when someone breaks the law. Let's say, for example, that you're driving along innocently on your way to work. You're keeping the law, driving the speed limit, stopping at stop signs and red lights. Then, from seemingly out of nowhere, someone slams into you from behind. Your head thrashes back and forth for a moment, long enough to seriously damage your neck. Now, a lawyer or attorney in this case might very well be an absolute necessity. A lawyer or attorney would help you to get the money you deserve to pay for your hospital bills and reimburse you for any suffering you might experience.

A family lawyer or attorney is trained in the laws that specifically have to do with family. A family lawyer or attorney is often called in when there's a divorce. With a divorce, a family lawyer will help the husband and wife to navigate the extremely complicated terrain that always comes with divorce. The husband and wife will each want their own family lawyer or attorney in this case.
Let's say that you're a woman and divorced and that your ex-husband is supposed to be paying you a certain amount of money each month in order to keep food on the table for your children. Now let's say that your ex-husband becomes lazy and stops making payments. A family lawyer or attorney would be necessary in this case if you wanted to bring the law in on the matter. A family lawyer or attorney would help you go after your ex-husband so that he would begin making his monthly payments again as he's supposed to.
Or let's say you're a man and divorced and that your ex-wife, prior to the divorce, spent a lot of money on drugs and alcohol in order to ease the pain of the process. You might want to hire a family lawyer or attorney in this case in order to get reimbursed for all the irresponsible spending your wife did. A family lawyer or attorney would help you to figure out exactly what you had coming to you. A family lawyer or attorney steps in during these very messy situations and helps to clean up the mess.
But how can you find a good family lawyer or attorney? If you look in the telephone book you'll see that there are literally thousands of family lawyers and attorneys available. Likewise, if you type "family attorney" in your favorite internet search engine you'll see thousands of sites spring up. How do you know which one to choose? How will you know, when looking for a family lawyer or attorney, that you're getting a good deal?
One way to do this is to contact something called the State Bar
Association. The State Bar Association can give you information on each of the lawyers practicing in your state. Another good thing to call is the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau can tell you if any complaints have been made about the family lawyer or attorney that you're considering.
