Freshening your house up in a few simple steps
Have you ever picked up your house, and just felt like it was not quite clean? Sometimes you need to freshen your house up some. The following are a few tips for how to give your house a fresher, cleaner feel, without having to do a whole lot of deep cleaning. All of these tips require you to have a relatively picked up house for it to work.

Tip one: Clean your window treatments. You can have everything in its place in a room and still have a dingy, grimy feel to the room because your blinds and curtains are dusty and dirty. So, take ten minutes a week to give your window coverings a thorough cleaning. Clean the blinds with a dry duster, then take a wet rag and give them a quick rub down. Once a month launder your window treatments if they can be laundered. It will keep them fresh, and rid them of any scents that are lingering in them.
Tip two: Wash the cans out. You might give your kitchen a thorough once over, including a mopping, and dusting, but if you do not wash out the trash bin, your kitchen is not going to feel, smell, or look as clean and fresh as it could. So, every now and then take your trash can outside and hose it off, let it dry, and return it to the kitchen as if it is a brand new can.
Tip three: Clean out the fridge. Your kitchen won't feel as clean and fresh as it could if you get a foul odor each time you open your fridge. So, once a week go through your fridge for a few minutes. Toss anything expired, spoiled, unused (that is not going to get used), and wipe off any spills, drips, etc.
Tip four: Dust, then vacuum. If you clean your house and neglect to dust, you are not going to feel as though your home is fresh. It may appear clean, but it won't feel like it. So, as part of your cleaning ritual, take the time to run a duster across every surface of your home, and vacuum after to get the dust fibers out of the air and off your carpets.
Tip five: Clean out from under and behind. Have you ever moved your dryer and found a million little things you never thought you'd see again? Well your washer and dryer are not the only items hiding things beneath and behind them. Once a week take a minute to run a vacuum under your bed, pull your dresser from the wall to vacuum, and unplug your stove and clean out from behind and under it.
Having a fresh clean house only needs to take 15 minutes a day. Do a few simple things to brighten, lighten, and eliminate clutter, odors, and the neglected areas of your home. Then when you clean your house you will feel like it is really clean. You won't have to worry about finding "Gross" areas if you move, etc. Instead you can keep your home in prime condition with a few simple efforts.
