One of the biggest contributors to clutter in your home is paper. The reason for this is that you tend to stack papers that need to be filed on top of the file cabinet so that you can put it away later; you get stacks of mail piled up throughout the house, and many other paper problems. Getting on top of your paper clutter is an important process if you plan to getting rid of the clutter in your home. A big part of getting rid of the paper clutter in your home is once you have gotten rid of it you need to stay on top of it so that it doesn't come back.

Here are some tips to follow to gain control of the paper clutter in your home.

Tip one:

Your mail is one of the biggest contributors to paper clutter in your home. To gain control of your paper clutter you are going to need to take care of your mail on a daily basis, do not just stack it up and deal with it later, this behavior is what leads to paper clutter. Instead, you will need to sort through your mail each day. Throw out the junk mail, file the bills, and browse the sale ads and keep the ones you need.

Tip two:

Another part of paper clutter is phone books and magazines. Once you get a new phone book, you need to immediately get rid of your old phone book. With magazines, as soon as you have flipped through them you need to toss them out. If there are interesting articles or recipes that you want to keep from the magazines instead of keeping the entire magazine you should just tear out the pages that you want to keep and file them away.

Tip three:

Rather than stacking stuff on top of the file cabinet that needs to be filed, you should file it right away. This includes receipts for bills that you have paid, such as power bill and medical bills. Putting them away as soon as you have paid the bills will prevent the clutter from getting out of hand, and it is easier to file two or three pieces of paper than two or three dozen.

Tip four:

Instead of keeping the coupon sections of the newspaper, what you are going to need to do is to cut out the coupons and file them in location where they will be used. You can use a clip and attach it to the fridge next to your grocery list to make sure the coupons are used. With coupons, they end up cluttering the house because they are put somewhere that they are not used so you end up with a stack of expired coupons.

Tip five:

If you keep receipts for tax purposes that is fine, but you need to make sure that, you file the receipts in the file cabinet instead of leaving them around the house. Throw away all of the other receipts that you no longer have a use for, if you need them for warranty you should file them in your file cabinet under an appropriate heading so you know where they are at all times.

Tip six:

If you get numerous magazines and newspapers delivered to your house you will need to look at the subscriptions that you are paying for. If you do not read the magazines or newspapers there is no sense in collecting all of that additional paper. In addition, getting rid of the unread subscriptions can also help you save money each year.

The key to gaining control of your paper clutter is to reduce the amount of paper that you have coming into your home each year.
