Getting rid of clutter

If you have spring fever, you no doubt have issues with the amount of clutter that is starting to build up. Getting rid of clutter is a challenge for everyone, but it can be done. Here are some tips to help you get rid of the clutter:
Trash Bags!
One of the best ways to get rid of the clutter is to do a mass cleaning of your home. Grab trash bags and just toss everything into them (you can sort thorough it later). Go through every room in your home and get rid of the things that you just don't use. Then move onto the basement, attic, and the garage. To start this process, you need to set aside some serious time to do so. Have your family help you by taking off an entire day and just clean your home.

Recycle
A great way to remove clutter from your home is to set up a recycling program. Get some bins and label each one for a different thing like paper, plastic, tin, etc. Then start using them. Make sure everyone in the home is on-board with the recycling program as it can help to eliminate the clutter in your home and it helps to improve the environment as well.
Storage Bins
If you really want to organize your home, purchase a bunch of storage bins. Go through all those yearly decorations and organize them into each bin. Then you can toss out all the old decorations and other things that you just don't use anymore. Storage bins are a great way to organize the kids' playroom. Just make sure they know they need to put their toys back into the storage bins after they have played with them.
Yard Sale
One of the best ways to get rid of your old stuff is to have a yard sale. Make sure you advertise it in the paper and online so people know to come. It doesn't matter how much you may like some of the items, now is the time to get rid of them! Whatever doesn't sell at the yard sale should be taken to Goodwill or its time for it to make it's way to the dumpster.
Another way to get rid of your clutter and make a profit is to sell your stuff online. Craig-list and E bay are great web sites that can help you get rid of some of the stuff that is taking up too much room in your home.
Schedule
To prevent clutter from building up in your home again, set up a cleaning schedule. Have everyone involved in doing different things around the home that will help you remove all the clutter. Do things each day instead of putting it off to once a week. If you can do things daily, it will be much easier to cut down on the amount of clutter in your home. Try things like "Monday - Bathrooms, Tuesday - Kitchen, Wednesday - Dust, Thursday- Vacuum."
Having a set schedule will help everyone do their part to get rid of the clutter and prevent it from building up again in the future.
Online Help
Since a lot of clutter comes in the form of paper, start asking your creditors and other companies to send you email notifications versus paper ads and bills. This will help to get rid of that big pile of paper on the kitchen table. Start reading the paper online versus getting the paper version for the same reason.
When it comes to clutter, stay on top of it. Don't let it get to the point where it will take a bulldozer to get rid of all of it!
