There are many ways you can give your home personality. You can base it on what you like and what your hobbies are, or you can decorate around your favorite place to visit. However you decide to give your home personality, make sure it is a way that you like because you are the one that is going to be looking at it. Here are some ideas on how you can give your home personality.
Add color to your home with paint or put up wallpaper. If you don't want to repaint your whole house or room, pick one wall as an accent wall. Adding one wall of color can change the room's atmosphere. Choose a color that suits the room you are painting. For example, if you are painting the master bedroom, pick a color that is calm and soothing, such as a light blue or light green. Choosing a calming will help you to remain calm and relaxed when you are in your own room. If you choose a brighter color, you may find it hard to relax while you are in that room.

If you find yourself not wanting to use paint to add color to your home, look into some furniture or drapery that will add color. Adding a colored piece of furniture into a room will open the room and make the furniture pop out. Using drapery to add color can also add height to a room. Place your drapery one inch below the ceiling to make the room look taller.
Add any collectables or memorabilia you have. When you have visitors come to your house, they like to look at pictures and memorabilia. This gives them an idea of who you are and what you like. For example, if you are an outdoor person, use outdoor items inside your house to decorate. Add a fishing pole to your wall with your pictures you have hung. Add the simple things that are a part of your life. It will give the room your character.
Put up pictures of your grandparents, parents, and yourself. Show off your family and what they mean to you. If you don't want to use your family photos, use photos of yourself and of important moments in your life.

If you have been to the jungles of Africa, make one room a jungle themed room. You can do this by adding color or by changing the bedspread to a different color or pattern. If your passion is the beach, add sand in glasses to the night stands and put out candles that smell like the ocean or tanning lotion. The simplest idea can catch what you are trying to portray.
Adding artwork into your home is a great way to show people the style you like. Select a piece of art that you like and that makes you feel good. Show it off to people.
