Home automation
Home automation can be a great tool for anyone who wants safety, convenience, and more. The following is a look at some home automation, and what you, a home owner, should know about it:

Defined: Home automation is when you take things in your home and automate them so that they can be controlled remotely. For example, you can apply home automation to things like your lights, your blinds, your sprinklers, and your locks. That way they can be turned off and on or opened and closed, from a cell phone, a remote, a wireless key pad, etc.
This technology saves money, is extremely convenient, provides safety, and increases home value. Here is how:
- Provides safety: Home automation provides a variety of safety features. For example, it means no more stumbling around in the dark. It means being able to turn on lights, and monitor home activity when you are out of town. It means having the ability to unlock the house for your kids when they get home from school, even if you aren't home. Home automation can also include things like camera surveillance, which means seeing who is at the door before opening it, etc. So, as you can see it helps improve the safety of your life in many aspects, from theft, to personal hazards like tripping.
- Saves money: Home automation can really help you save money. The way it does this is that once you automate things like lights, temperature control, and even sprinklers, you use a lot less, waste a lot less, and increase efficiency. If you want to come home to a house that is not dark, you don't have to leave the lights on all day wasting energy. If you want to wake up to a certain temperature, you can set it. If you want your home to look occupied while you are out of town, you don't have to leave lights on or pay the neighbor to flip them on and off, you can set them to resemble your normal routine. The idea is that home automation offers a lot of energy conserving options.
- Is convenient: The biggest benefit of home automation is simply that it is super convenient. Things like a button you can push to turn off every light in your house remotely is incredibly nice, especially if you are laying in bed and don't want to get up. Being able to know for a certainty that your garage is shut, that you locked up, and closed the blinds when you leave out of town, is not just convenient but really valuable. Basically, it is a great way to live easier, and breathe easier as well.
- Increases home value: A home with automation is worth more. This is a big deal in a poor home selling market. If you want to sell your home to a potential buyer, it needs to stand out, and what could make it stand out in a good way, more than it being automated?
