How can I tie into my homes unlimited long distance on my cell phone?

What options are available for tying the home-unlimited long distance and cell phone?
This new technology of being able to share the package of unlimited long distance in your home and a cell phone is just working its way through the bugs.
T Mobile along with Nokia have started a few testing phases to find out what the service would be like if you could use the unlimited long distance with VoIP and a WIFI and cell phone.
The new service is called hotspot@home. What this service does is allow a subscriber to place long distance and local calls from either their cell phone on a WIFI network, regardless of if they are using a home based wireless connection or a connection through a hot spot.

These new beginning phases show growth and benefits, however as with any new technology there are still hiccups involved.
The design of this system of calling will save money for consumers and service providers alike. The calls that are placed over WIFI networks will cost as little as 20% of the call costs in the past.
The way this works as far as a cost to the consumer is that all calls made within the United States, local and long distance are at a low cost of $20 per month for unlimited callings. There also appears to be an additional $5 fee for additional family phones.
The plan will be limited to assist the regular cell phone plan of around $40 per month however this is not a high price for a regular cell phone service. The way you can look at it is $40 per month for the cell phone service, and $20 per month for the unlimited long distance.
The basics of the call passing process is as follows:
- The call goes to the WIFI network
- Then the call goes from the WIFI network to the Cellular network
- Vice versa depending on the direction of the call
There is a great chance for a higher quality of calls using the WIFI process. This process is also in the designing steps to get the equipment for the connection toward being affordable by all.
T Mobile is already working on plans that allow for home WIFI gateways to be used. As well as using a router that T Mobile will provide as part of the package of the service.
There are other companies that are trying to get in on this new communication gateway. Skype, the eBay owned service is trying to find ways for their service to go from only computer-to-computer, but they are working to have calls integrated to the switched telephone network.
There are phones calls smart phones that offer cellular and WIFI radios. These include that of several Nokia models.
These types of phones can connect through any hot spot and can scan to be configured to connect to any WIFI network.
There are still problems with some of the connectivity and roaming. The calls seem to get lost between hot spots. However, if you want to use these phones at home or in a hot spot location, you can use your unlimited long distance to make as many long distance calls as you want.
The rough edges of call stability and roaming is something that will be smoothed out over time. The products are already showing great promise and the money savings that can come from these plans and phones will be a benefit overall.
