How to clean your desk and the things on it

Most people have at least one desk in their house, if not more. And it never seems to fail anything and everything lands up on the desk, especially things that aren't supposed to be there. But not only do you have to worry about cleaning all of the junk and clutter that is on your desk, but you also have to worry about cleaning all of the things that belong on your desk. Many people find the thought of cleaning their desks a daunting task because of how overwhelming it can be and how many things need to be done to properly clean it. But the good news is that if you follow a few simple tricks and take it one step at a time you will be able to clean your desk in no time at all.

Difficulty rating: Easy to moderate

Step one:
The first thing that you are going to need to do is to gather up your cleaning supplies. If you gather up your cleaning supplies before hand then you will actually cut down on the amount of time it takes you to clean your desk. Some cleaning supplies you should have on hand are a dusting cloth, wood polish or some type of cleaning spray and a trash can.

Step two:
The next thing that you need to do is to gather up all of the trash that is on your desk, this can be soda cans, wrappers, scrap paper and anything else that you don't need and then throw these items away.

Step three:
Now that all of the trash is gone you are going to want to gather up any items that belong in the kitchen, this can include dirty dishes, pens, phone books, etc. Once you have gathered up the items that belong in the kitchen you need to take them to the kitchen immediately. You should do this same process over for each room that is in the house.

Step four:
Once you have gotten everything put away that doesn't belong on the desk you should be able to start cleaning what does belong on the desk. The first thing that you should do to clean the desk is to take everything off of the desk that you can.

Step five:
Once everything is removed from the desk you need to begin dusting the desk. If you have big items on the desk what you should do is spray the dust cloth with the wood polish and then wipe around the items. Don't forget to lift the items up and dust underneath them as well. You can spray the shelves or any area that has nothing on it directly with the wood polish.

Step six:
If you have a computer you are not going to want to use any kind of dusting spray on the screen. You will need to get a separate cloth with nothing on it (or do this step before you dust anything else). Simply wipe down the monitor with the cloth. Don't forget to dust the rest of the computer with your dusting cloth, including the back of the monitor and the tower.

Step seven:
Now that everything is dusted you are going to need to clean any glass that is on the desk, including shelves or doors.

Step eight:
Now that the entire desk is clean you are going to want to wipe down anything that goes back on the desk, including the mouse, printer, keyboard, etc with a cloth. You can use a special dusting cloth or you can use a cloth that has a light spray of Pledge or something similar on it.

Step nine:
To clean in between the keys of the keyboard, the inside of the printer, and the inside of your computer you are going to want to use a can of air. Simply follow the directions on the can and clean these items.

Step ten:
Now that everything is clean you are going to want to put everything back on the desk where it belongs.
