There are several things you can do to add beauty and style to the design of your garden. You can find many garden design ideas in gardening magazines, websites and at your local garden center. Some unique and stylish garden additions include:

  1. Adding a curved path through your garden. You can create a more uniquely designed garden by paving a brick path through your garden. Using crushed limestone is another material you can use to create your path.. Make sure your path leads somewhere, like to a fountain or pond. If you do not want to use limestone or brick, consider using spray on paving. You can achieve the look of real bricks by using spray on paving.
  2. Define the boundaries of your garden using limestone blocks. Limestone blocks can also be used to form different levels between your garden beds. This can make an ordinary garden more dynamic.
Limestone blocks can also be used to form steps on your garden path to lead visitors to an elevated area of your garden.
Choose a color that will blend nicely with surroundings, this will be more attractive than using a plain brick color.
  3. If you are not using your lawn, convert it into a garden bed of flowers along with a brick, limestone or spray on path. You can also just convert a corner of your lawn into an elevated flower bed. Provide a personal touch by adding a bird bath or statue. Make sure the bird bath or other item is the appropriate size, not to big, but not to small for this area.
  4. Remove items or objects that are not useful and just get in your way. For example, if you have an old shed or storage area that is not particularly useful and more of an eyesore than anything, get rid of it. Removing it will increase your garden space. Another reason to remove it is sheds tend to attract unwanted visitors such as spiders, snakes, mice and even rats.
Remove plants or flowers that you are not fond of and replace them with something you like. Try selecting plants and flowers that will add color and beauty to your overall garden design.
  5. Add a bit of tranquility to your garden with a fountain, pond, or waterfall. Choose a water feature that is appropriate in size for the intended area. There are many different fountains, ponds and waterfall styles and sizes available to improve the look and design of your garden. If your garden space is limited, consider a sculpture or statue for the area.
  6. Adding small benches to garden paths can add a more relaxing quality to your garden. You can also add decorative walkway lights to your garden path. Adding lights can be expensive but can also add style and uniqueness to your garden.

There are also several inexpensive things you can add to your garden to give it a more of a personal touch, such as hanging baskets with small flowers, windmills, and wind chimes are all great items to add to your garden. Adding plastic gnomes and animals can add a bit of charm to your garden at a relatively inexpensive price.

Maintain your garden by keeping plants and flowers healthy. This is vital to the success of your overall garden design. Make sure to water plants and flowers as recommended. Weed flower beds and garden areas regularly. Trim any shrubs and/or bushes when needed. Protect plants or flowers in the colder winter months as recommended. And finally, take the time to not only work in your garden but relax and enjoy the garden you have created.
