How to create attractive wall arrangements
There are a number of different tricks and skills that you can use to create attractive wall arrangements that can transform the look of your rooms without breaking the bank.
When decorating your home, often one of the most troubling questions is what you can do with your walls. It seems boring to just hang some pictures on the wall, or that art poster that you've had since college (which is not just boring, but also tacky). We all want that innovative, original, and put together look for our rooms-but how to find it? The answer is in coming up with attractive wall arrangements.
The number one tip is just to be creative, you will be surprised how far a little creativity can take you. But other than that, here are some general tips that will help you create those attractive wall arrangements you've been longing for.

- Decide on your style. Are you modern? Do you prefer the shabby chic style? Do you like eclectic? Are you more retro?
- Find something that means a lot to you.
Do you love to have photos of your family and friends around you? Are you an artist and you want to hang up your work? Is there a particular artist that you absolutely love? Are you really into nature photography? Do you garden? Do you constantly dream about going to the ocean? Do you collect old bottles, or old keys, or old anything? - Look at your room.
The dimensions of your room will help you decide how dramatic or low key your attractive wall arrangements will be. For example, if you happen to have a cathedral ceiling in your main room, then you can go with a huge and incredibly dramatic piece of wall art or an enormous painting. If your room is smaller, one thing that you can do is just focus on one wall and use a nice, big, beautiful mirror to open up your room even more. - Art.
Using art that you love and that means a lot to you can not only inject your own personality, but can actually change the way that people feel in and about the room. Here are some tips for hanging your art work:
- widen a room with horizontal landscapes
- to add height to a room, use portraits of flowers
- position a large painting by a mirror to give the illusion of even broader space
- hang a number of smaller pictures in a tight group to create a focal point in your room
- position large pictures in relation to the furniture. If the picture is too high above the furniture, then the effect is disconcerting rather than appealing
- hang pictures at eye level
- Mirrors
You can use mirrors to play all kinds of tricks with your room (and I don't mean fun house tricks). Mirrors can make your room seem larger, can add space in crowded areas, and more.
- hang a mirror on a wall next to a painting or an object in order to reflect the object and add space to your room
- if your room is dark, you can put a mirror close to a window in order to bounce light into the room, making the feeling more natural
- paint one wall darker than your other walls (in a color that contrasts) and then hang a mirror on that wall. This will give your room depth
- Plants
One clever thing that you can do with your wall arrangements is parallel the live plants in your room with framed prints of other plants. Or you can purchase wall vases and put flowers in them, extending the live decor to the walls. This is an easy way to change your wall arrangements around and play with color whenever you want.
