How to deep clean your home

Deep cleaning your home is one of the most important things you can do. Giving your home a good deep cleaning will remove insects, pollen, dust mites, and allergens from your home. Think about how many times the cat threw up on the carpet? Simply scrubbing it with a hand scrubber won't get out the gunk that is in your carpet pad, only a good carpet scrubber can do this.

When it comes to deep cleaning your home, walk around and take a look at everything that needs to be cleaned. Don't forget to move furniture around so you can get some of the garbage that has fallen behind it or to remove the build-up of dust and cobwebs.

One place to deep clean is your windows. The windows need to be cleaned inside and out. This helps to remove all the dirt that has been stuck to the window. Don't forget to take down the drapes and give them a good wash along with the blinds and curtains. Get some good cleaner and scrub the window screens and the windowsills. Bugs often get trapped in these areas and you will have a build-up of dead insects.

Grab the vacuum and go around all the floorboards and corners of your home. Your goal here is to suck up all the cobwebs that have accumulated over the winter. There are a lot of areas in the home that aren't cleaned each Saturday like the light fixtures, behind the piano, and underneath the computer desk. Make sure you spend some time cleaning all of these areas and getting rid of all the bugs and garbage that has collected there.

Clean the tops of the fans with some dusting spray or a wet rage. Your fans collect a lot of dust during the winter and it may surprise you to see just how much dust is falling on your carpet each time you turn on that fan. Not to mention the amount of dust you are inhaling.

Go around your home and wipe down all the door frame, doors, and baseboards. These areas are known for collecting a lot of dust, dirt, and garbage. Wipe down the inside of your cabinets as well. Before you vacuum, always do the dusting first, this way you won't need to vacuum twice. Grab some disinfectant wipes and clean the areas that are frequently touched like doorknobs and light switches.

Start getting rid of the clutter in your home by taking a garbage bag around with you and tossing all the expired foods and items that you just don't need and don't use. Create a system to help keep the clutter in your home down to the bare minimum. You can do this by using storage bins and hangers to keep everything organized and in its proper place. This will help to keep your house neat and tidy looking and it will help you when you deep clean your home next year.

Probably one of the most dreaded rooms to clean is the bathroom. Scrub everything and make sure you use some Lysol disinfectant spray in there. You need to scrub the toilets, sinks, counters, and the tub. Proper deep cleaning means you need to be scrubbing the bathroom weekly to cut down on mold and mildew. Plus, it will make it easier to clean when you do your big spring clean.

Another dust trap is the laundry room. Spend some time with the vacuum and just go to town. Vacuum up all the dust bunnies in there and all the laundry detergent that has spilled over. The Landry room is often thought of as "clean" so people really don't spend a lot of time deep cleaning it as often as they should.
