Are you interested in having your own herb garden? Herb gardens are a lot of fun because you can go out to your herb garden while cooking and get what you need for your food dish! One of the tastiest things in the world is a dish that is made with fresh herbs. There are two different ways to do your herb gardening, which are outdoor herb gardening and indoor herb gardening. Here are a couple of ways to do your herb gardening:

With outdoor herb gardening, you first will need to decide how big your herb garden will be. The size of the garden really depends on how many herbs you want to grow in your garden. Or, if you like, you can make your herb garden to be a section of your vegetable garden. You should separate your different herbs by about 12 to 18 inch plots. If you like, you might want to have colorful or popular herbs grow on the border of your garden. Some colorful and popular herbs include basil and parsley. Another thing that you might want to do is create a map of your herb garden, so you remember where all of your different herbs are located!

Another thing that you need to take into consideration when doing outdoor herb gardening is the type of soil that you have. You will want to make sure that your herb garden drains very well. Herbs do not grow in areas where there is wet soil. One way that you can make sure your soil drains well is to only have the soil be about 15 to 18 inches deep in the garden bed.

If you want to do indoor herb gardening, you will want to make sure that you place your herbs in a sunny location, near a window. It is a good idea to pick either a south or a west window for your plants. If you are growing herbs during the winter, you can purchase a fluorescent "grow lamp" to keep your herb plants growing and healthy.

Just like with outdoor herb gardening, you will still want to place your herbs in soil that can drain well. In addition, you will want to take the water needs of your herbs into consideration. One thing that you might need to do is divide herb plants into different planters, depending on their different water needs. If you have plants that need more water, then you could also consider misting and spraying the plants to keep them moist. You also can group herbs together on a tray of moistened pebbles so that they can keep moist. However, do not try and drench all of the roots of the herbs with water - this will kill the herb plants.

When doing herb gardening, you should keep in mind that not all herbs can easily be grown from their seeds. You might want to consider using herb starter plants in order to start your indoor or outdoor herb garden. In addition, you should also be aware that some herb plants spread and might start to overtake some of your other herb plants. If you plant mint in your herb garden, you will want to make sure that you don't let the mint spread. You can use a planter box, a pot, or a cement block to confine the mint to a specific area.

Herb gardening is a really fun and rewarding hobby! If you are interested in spending time in the sun, then you will enjoy growing herbs in the summer months. However, if you would like to enjoy fresh herbs all year long, then you might want to look into starting an indoor herb garden!
