How to dust most effectively

dusting23471451.jpgDusting is one of those jobs that never goes away no matter what you do. You can dust with the best product out there and still have to do it again the next week. You can ignore dust but then you end up with a house that you can barely breathe in. So to help you with your dusting job, here are some tips for dusting more effectively.

You can use all sorts of dusting products to help you clean. However, the cheapest way is just to use some water. Just get a cloth damp and use it to dust. You might want to use a dusting product just for dusting wood because you shouldn't get water on wood. There are special products just for wood that help to improve the finish and keep it looking good.

Dry dusting often just puts the dust back in the air. If you don't want much liquid on the surfaces you are dusting, don't use much. A very lightly damp rag will do the job just fine without putting the dust back into the air.

If you use a special kind of cloth to dust, just use a dryer sheet instead. They cost a lot less and do the same job just as well.

Dust top to bottom. It is the first rule of cleaning. You always do top to bottom, that way you don't get the bottom dirty again while you're cleaning the top. If you do end up getting some dust on the parts you have already cleaned, just wipe them down quick and move on.

Having door mats helps to lower dust in the air of your home. Have one outside the door and one inside the door.

If you have pets, make sure that they are well groomed. Your pets get dirty so fast and are a lot like little children that have to be bathed constantly. Take them to the pet store to get groomed or do it yourself, but they bring a lot more dust into the home when they aren't clean. Plus they smell really bad and make your home smell bad when they aren't clean.

Keeping your air filters clean also helps to make sure the dust stays low in your home. Air filters should be changed every few months but they should also be changed if too much dust or dirt gets in them.

If your air conditioning is on, make sure that all your windows are closed. It will help to make sure that dust and other things from outside don't come in. If you want your windows open, just realize that you will probably have to dust more, but it will save you money on your electricity bill.

There are lots of products out there that will help you dust, like the Swiffer duster. These work well but you have to realize that they can get expensive and they do get dirty fast. With rags you might have to work a little more but you can easily just get a new rag whenever you want, where with a special duster you might have to just spend more and more money.
