The only question is, of course, is how to get that vinyl lettering off your walls. In order for vinyl lettering to really be able to deliver on its promise of being convenient, up to date, absolutely a piece of cake to change whenever you want, and hassle free, you have to be able to take those vinyl letters off of your wall so that you can put new ones back on! And if you can't get your vinyl letters off all the way, then you're just stuck with sticky patches on your wall, unsightly messes, and general disaster. Chic and stylish? I think not.
Fortunately, getting vinyl lettering off of your walls doesn't have to be a Herculean feat of strength and intelligence. By just following a few easy steps, you can get those vinyl letters off of your wall in about no time flat, and then put your new design back on!
Here's how you can get vinyl lettering off of your walls:
- Warm the vinyl lettering. You can warm the vinyl lettering with either a heat gun or a hair dryer. They both work well; it just depends on what you have. Just blow directly on the letters for a little while. Warming the vinyl lettering actually loosens the adhesive that's holding it to the wall, and it will help the vinyl lettering just ease off.
- Peel the vinyl lettering off of the wall.
Since you have already warmed the adhesive, the vinyl lettering should come off without too much trouble. You can keep the heat on the vinyl lettering while you peel, which should also help the process. - Remove any leftover adhesive with soap or professional products.
Chances are that you will be left with some adhesive residue still on your walls. It's pretty easy to get this residue off. You can just use some mild soap, and it should remove the adhesive. Or you can actually just go get an adhesive remover at any hardware store. The best products are 3M Adhesive remover and any orange peel products. - Apply your new vinyl lettering for your new look!
If you've followed these directions, all you have to do is wait for the wall to dry, and you're ready to go all over again! As long as you've warmed the vinyl lettering, then it should be a piece of cake to take off, and not too much of a hassle. If you don't warm the letters first, though, then you can end up with a big, sticky, vinyl mess.
