Vacuum regularly. As soon as you get done dusting you should vacuum. When you dust, the dust goes into the air and if you vacuum it reduces the amount of dust in the area and room so that there is less chance of the same dust you removed ruining your electronic equipment. Also, by vacuuming you remove other hazards as well. Vacuum a minimum of once a week, more if you have electronics in rooms where windows are open or there is a lot of traffic as more dust will be in those rooms.

Use a multi-purpose cleaner. When you want to keep electronics clean you should start by using the suggested cleaner for the specific electronic, read the owner's manual and in it there will be instructions for how to clean the specific electronic. However, if you have lost the manual, or did not read it you can always use an electronic safe multi-purpose cleaner and clean your electronics as you clean the other surfaces in your home. Using a cleaner is also a better way to dust as the soap will attract more dirt than just a rag.

Clean immediately. If something happens to get your electronics dirty, such as a dirty little kids hand touching the television screen, it is best to clean it immediately. If you let electronics be not clean for long you will have a harder time getting them clean as the dirt, dust, and debris will start to adhere to the surface and be harder to remove. So, be vigilant about keeping them clean, and clean them regularly as well. So, for example, clean the electronics in your house once every other week, and in between that just clean them anytime they get dirty.

Do not let food, drinks, or kids get on it. If you want to keep your electronics clean you need to set some rules about food, drinks, etc. If you let your kids touch the television or computer screen once, they are going to do it again, so make sure that you make a rule to help keep your electronics clean. You also need to be careful to keep beverages away from your electronics. Liquid can short out cords, and cause electronics to fry, fires to start, etc. so, be extra careful about that.

Keeping your electronics clean is key to keeping your electronics in working order. Because the term electronics is so broad, it is best to simply read the instructions for cleaning when you purchase the item. You will want to make sure you never use a wet rag, as water is damaging to electronics, and as stated above, just be sure to dust regularly and often, and vacuum right after. If you do this alone your electronics will be in far better working order than if you do nothing at all.
