How to remove red Kool-Aid stains

Removing red Kool-Aid stains can be something of a chore, but there are ways to do it.
However, red stains are always harder to remove from carpet, especially the non-stain resistant carpets. The reason is that the red coloring in Kool-Aid, soda and candy can react with the fibers in your carpet and thing it is dye.

Simply stated, even thought there is a good chance of removing a red Kool-Aid stain that has been around awhile, it is always better to remove the stain as quickly as possible.
As most of the time, flushing a Kool-Aid stain with just warm water will not work; you will need a few tools to remove these stains. The process is not that of a tricky one, though it can be a little time consuming.
Start with using some type of cleaner if you have one to remove all the access liquid Kool-Aid. If this is not an option, use a couple of clean dry towels in order to suck up as much of the liquid as possible. Then make a small bowl of dawn dish detergent and warm water. This mixture is about 5-6 drops of the detergent to two cups of water.
Take a white cloth with the soapy solution on it and place over the stain. Now place your clothes iron on top of it. Let this sit about 15 minutes. The setting on your iron should be set for low. Keep a close eye on the iron to make sure your carpet is not having any reactions to the heat. However, it should not.
Do not press down, as this may work in the opposite of how you want the stain to move. See the heat and the dawn will hopefully bring the stain into the cloth. This will remove the red from the carpet.
The red stain will start to move into the cloth. You should see red on the cloth, when you do, then you know this is working. Fold the cloth to a clean area or get another cloth and do this process again.
Removing these stubborn stains takes patience. However, even stains that have been around for a great deal of time can be removed using these processes.
After you have used this process several times, rinse the spot with water, blot it up and dry it quickly.
Quick drying prevents any deep down stain from trying to come up into the carpet again.
Another option to try for removing the red Kool-Aid stains is Thoroughly soak the area with hydrogen peroxide, let sit 1-5 minutes, blot dry.
Wait and repeat if necessary. If stain is still present after area is completely dry, repeat the process process. (Stubborn stains call for 1/2 bottle each time and four applications.)
However with any process of stain removal, you will want to try this in an area that is non visable to make sure it will not damage your carpet coloring or texture.
After using the process of your choice to remove a red Kool-Aid stain, use a mixture of vinegar and water as a finishing step to making the stain not reappear.
Prevention of a stain setting is always the better choice. If you see a Kool-Aid stain, try to remove it emmediatly with a sponge, some warm soapy water and a cleaner. This process will stop the red Kool-Aid from being a pesky stain.
