How to remove soap scum


Any of you who have ever cleaned a bathroom has already had plenty of experience with soap scum; it seems to get every where no matter how often you clean the bathroom. And who likes to look at that grimy build up, especially if the build up is so bad that you can't see out of your shower doors. If you are having problems with getting rid of soap scum then this article is perfect for you to read because it will provide you with step by step instructions to help you remove soap scum, not to mention provide you with tips and tricks that you might not have heard of that can aid you in removing that unsightly build up of soap scum.

Step one:
The first thing that you need to do to remove soap scum is to help try and prevent the build up in the first place. One thing that you can do to prevent the soap scum build up is to wipe or squeegee will help to reduce the soap scum build up because it gets rid of the mineral deposits that the water leaves behind and the talc that collects in the deposits.

Step two:
The next thing that you need to do is to buy a soap scum remover from any kind of store that sells cleaning supplies.

Step three:
After buying the cleaner you will need to spray the shower walls, glass, or bathtub with the cleaner. Basically you want to spray any surface that has any kind of soap scum build up.

Step four:
After spraying the surfaces of each item you are going to want to let the cleaner stand. The reason why you let the cleaner stand is that it will give it time to dissolve the soap scum.

Step five:
After allowing the product to dissolve the soap scum you are going to want to scrub the surfaces with a nylon backed scrubby or sponge so that you can get the rest of the soap scum off.

Step six:
After scrubbing the walls and floors of the shower or bathtub you are going to need to thoroughly rinse off the cleaner. If the soap scum build up is still there you are going to want to reapply the cleaning product and repeat the process again.

Other tips:
 If you use liquid soap rather than bar soap you can help prevent the soap scum build up because of the talc in bar soap that collects to the mineral deposits that are left after each shower or bath.
 You can also wax your shower walls waxed so that it provides sheeting action, which means that the water will just run down the walls and not stick to the wall.
 You can also wipe down the shower walls with lemon oil because the lemon oil will retard the formation of soap scum.
 Daily maintenance and weekly cleaning is a great way to minimize the soap scum problems.
 If you spray hot white vinegar on the walls or sides of your shower or bathtub it will also help to dissolve the soap scum. Another good type of cleaning solution to use without using chemicals is baking soda and water paste.
 You can also mix about _ cup of automatic dishwasher detergent in a bucket of water because it will act as a degreaser and help dissolve the soap scum. The trick to using this is that you need to sponge the solution on and then let it set for 15 minutes and after letting it sit for 15 minutes you are going to want to keep applying it to the surfaces to keep all of the surfaces wet so that the soap scum soaks off.
