You can venture to discount stores, consignment shops and thrift stores if you care to go on a treasure hunt. These little shops often have hidden treasures that will keep you in style and in your family budget.
However there are also some amazing ways to stay in touch with the hot styles and stay within a modest budget.
It always seems that when you start looking at an outfit that you think you do not have the shoes or underclothes or accessories to match. Therefore, you end up purchasing much more than you planned.
Many of the clothes in your closet are forgotten about and you may not realize the treasure you have sitting in your own closet. Take the time to do a little inventory of the clothing you have. This will help when you go to purchase new items. Instead of buying new jeans for example, you could buy the new shoes to wear with the jeans. And refresh the looks you have.
Also, review the packed up clothes that you had from the previous year. It may be that you can pass a few items from one child to the other. I know, we all hate hand me downs right. Well, not necessarily, I loved getting my big sister's clothes.
Take a look at all the accessories and shoes you have. Also, make sure you have the basics, several colored and a white and black blouse, the basic black pants, and finally the basic shoes.
Now that you know what you have, you can go get what you need. This is the fun part. All new styles will start with the basic. Make sure you fill in the areas listed as basics, the white shirt, the black pants etc.
Then look at a few magazines or where ever you get your ideas for outfits, and purchase a few things to go with it. You can also look on the Internet for new styles for the upcoming season.
Another hot tip is buy clothing that is not so out of this world because of the current trend that next month, you will be saying, "How did I ever wear that".
The timing of when you are shopping is crucial in finding the clothing for you and your family. Shop for items at the end of the season, the out of fashion for that month, and post holiday sales. Often times you can get the newest styles for a fraction of the cost. If you buy it when it first comes out you will pay a lot more. Wait until it is almost gone, then the price will start to drop.
Remember you can still stay in style simply by purchasing the basic when these sales are on. The basics won't change and you can add a few trendy items to keep you on the hot line of the industry.
Many bargain-clothing stores carry the current fashions you are looking for, but will not break the banks. These stores are like Ross, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Kohl's, and others.
You can also find fantastic bargains on the Internet through online shopping. This could be a great way to pick up a few good deals, however remember you can not see it, so there is a risk on fit, style, condition and cost per item. Use your head when buying online.
When you go out to create the perfect wardrobe for you and your family, remember to have fun, but keep the basics in mind so that you can express yourself on the trendy add-ons with out costing you your child's college fund.
