Is converting to Microsoft Vista a good idea for my home computer?
Every time Microsoft produces a new version of Windows it is just a little bigger and a little better than the last version. This time it is a lot bigger and a lot better. The five years it took for them to come up with this version of Windows definitely seem to have been productive ones. The last version that was produced was Windows XP. Windows Vista took the spotlight on November 8, 2006 at the completion of its development. Here are a couple of the new features:
The new look of Windows Vista:
If the new Windows is not better than the other versions in anything else, it is definitely much more pleasing to the eye. The new looks take graphic design to new heights. They are beautiful. This new look is called Windows Aero. For one thing, the program is more animated. It also has transparencies. When new windows are opened they are transparent so that you can see through to the one behind it. It is also programmed with a new font. Or if you like the old looks, you have the option of using their standard look which is the same thing as Aero only it is not transparent and does not look so glassy. After standard there is the option called Basic. Basic is a lot more like Windows XP, it just has some of the Aero combined with it. After basic there comes Classic. Classic is more like the Windows 2000 style. So if you want the program without the looks, you can choose from any of the old designs.

Speech recognition in Windows Vista:
One new feature that is pretty incredible in Windows Vista is their new speech recognition. Unlike their older version, this speech recognition is huge. You can basically tell the computer to do anything and it will do it. Say you need to click on a certain link, obviously you cannot tell the computer to go to that link, unless it is in a round about way. What you do is tell the computer to bring up a grid. It brings up a grid with nine boxes, all number. You choose the box that your link is inside of. Then you tell it to bring up the grid again and it will bring up the grid inside the space you already selected. You keep doing this and keep doing this until it is refined down to your link, and then you select it.
Better yet, they do not only have it in English, they have speech recognition for U.S. English, U.K. English, traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. That sounds like a lot, but it gets better. There will be more languages coming out soon. This program is amazing.
Is Windows Vista for you?
If you are trying to decide whether or not to get this new windows program on your home computer the decision is not really all that hard. If you have the money and you want the new program, it would probably be worth your while. It is a great program. If you are content with the one you have and do not see a need to upgrade to a program that contains all the bells and whistles, then don't upgrade. It is up to you. For different people, different features are important to them. If Windows XP or 2000 are missing a feature that you consider a must-have and Windows Vista has that feature, you may want to get it. But if you are going to get Windows Vista and are not going to take advantage of the new features, it would just be a waste of your money.
