Dryers, like most major appliances need to be maintained carefully. They need some know how and you need to understand what needs to be done on a regular basis to keep the machine in good order. There are also some serious safety concerns when it comes to dryers as well. For example, lint in a dryer, if it builds up and is not cleaned out, can leand to a serious fire. You need to clean out the lint trap after every use and you need to make sure that the area around the dryer is clear of any type of obstruction. You need to make sure that the exhaust vent is clear or you could create a serious problem for the dryer and to the health of your family. Most electric appliances can create carbon monixide if not properly vented. This is a deadly gas that can easily kill. Inspect wires when the power is disconnected and make sure that there are no frayed wires which could cause a fire.
Another important piece of dryer maintenance is for you to have all the major parts of the dryer vacuumed out once every four or five years. This could very much help with the efficiency of the dryer and potentially prevent dangerous fires or other breakdowns. However, you should not try to do this yourself. You need to call a specialist and have them come into your home and do it. This might cost you something but you should definitely do it. A little money spent at regular intervals can translate into many more years of excellent service. Also, make sure that the dryer is on a level surface so that when it is in use it does not shake and break.
Just following these basic rules will help you to prolong the life of your dryer considerably. Be religious about cleaning out the lint trap and making sure that the dryer is properly ventilated. If you keep up your appliances well you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have properly maintained a valuable piece of machinery. In the long run you will have also the satisfaction of saving lots of money and getting much more use out of your machine. You will also know that you have not taken your fortunate situation for granted. So be dilligent and good luck with your dryer!
