Simplifying yard and house work

Yard work and house work can definitely become tedious; there are probably a million other things people would rather be doing. So it seems that the solution would be in simplifying yard and house work so you can get on to the things you really want to do. Since yard and house work can't be avoided, here are some suggestions on how to simplify the yard and house work.
Simplifying yard work
Yard work can often times seem extremely tedious when there are so many other things you want to be doing. The key to getting yard work done and done quickly is to simplify. Here are some suggestions on how to do it:
- Get the family involved. Whether you have a large or a small family there's no shame in getting family members involved with everything. Getting family members involved in yard work can seriously cut back on the amount of time you spend outside doing tedious chores. Of course if you have young children they won't be able to with mowing the lawn or prune bushes but they can help with getting things picked up and organized. Older children can however be taught to prune bushes and trees, as well as mow the lawn. When taught how to correctly do things it can really make things a lot easier.
- Work on a little bit at a time. Instead of doing everything in one day or night it might make more sense to take some time each day to keep things up in the yard. Take one day to mow the lawn, another to use the edger, and another to trim up bushes and trees. When you divide things up into different days it doesn't seem like such a huge load to do every Saturday.

Simplifying house work
Unfortunately there are some things around the house that just can't be left for long periods of time. House work seems mundane and boring especially when you're cleaning the same things week after week. And then to add to all the house work you have extra messes to clean up when the kids are around, especially young kids. Here are some suggestions on how to simplify your house work chores:
- Choose a laundry day. Sometimes it's a little easier to tackle the laundry when you know that you can just do it all in one day in one big sweep. Pick a day during the week and designate it as your laundry day, or if you don't want to tie yourself up to one specific day each week, just make sure it gets done one of the days during the week. Many people love to get the laundry all done in one big swoop and this can make the rest of your days a lot easier and can give you time for other things.
- Pick up at the end of the day. Even though you might be tired as a dog, don't leave messes out all night waiting for you the next morning to pick up. It's much easier if you can pick up around the house before you go to bed. That way you can wake up to a nice and tidy home and not have to worry about picking things up. This rule especially applies to the kitchen. Try and get all the dishes out of the sink and washed, dishwasher loaded before you get to bed so you don't have to wake up to a sink full of dirty dishes and a dirty counter top.
- Clean once a week. As much as we hate cleaning every week, things like bathrooms and floors are just things that need weekly cleaning. If you leave toilets, tubs, floors, sinks, and showers for more than a week you end up cleaning more than you need to, and it can be quite disgusting. Get use to cleaning those places that need it most and need disinfecting at least once a week to make your life simpler.
No one likes cleaning or keeping up with the yard work but they both have to be done on a regular basis. Using these suggestions to simplify yard and house work can make your life a lot easier and give you more time to do the things you actually enjoy.
