bedroom10059664.jpgDecorating a small area in your home can be a challenge to complete. With a little time and a little plan, you will be able to make the space appear larger than it really is. The space that you may need to decorate can be a small bathroom, small bedroom or a smaller living or family room. With the proper amount of decorations and color, your space will look larger and have a warm feeling that your family members and friends will enjoy.

If the small space you are looking at decorating is a bedroom, try a few of these suggestions. Start by using warm colors in the room. A warm color bedspread or blanket will help the small bedroom appear warm and cozy. The warm colors you use need to be reds, browns and gold. Add accent pillows to help the bed pop out more from the small walls around it. If the bedroom has enough room, place the top of the bed against one wall and walking room on both sides of the bed. When you push a bed against two walls, the room will appear much smaller than it really is.

As you paint or wallpaper a small bedroom or room, use a pattern to accent the walls. Use softer shades of color to help the room still appear warm and cozy. When using wall paper, choose a pattern that will run along the room that will length and widen the walls. Floral patterns and stripes are good choices to use when you are creating a small space appear larger. Use small amounts of wall hanging and artwork. The more you add onto the walls, the more the room will appear cluttered and will appear smaller.

In any room that has a window, use window treatments that are soft and flow. Using a think fabric that appears heavy will also make the room appear and heavy and look smaller than it really is. The color of the window treatment you use will also need to be a soft shade of color. A popular choice used by many home owners are off white, light greens and light yellows that are used for the window treatment. Make sure you can open the window treatments to add extra light into the room. Natural light from outside will make any room appear larger than it really is.

Mirrors are an amazing source that you can use to help any room look larger. Placing a mirror in a room will reflect the light that is located in the room, whether it is natural light or light from a lamp. As the light reflects off the mirror, the room will illuminate and appear open. Place a large mirror on an empty wall to make the wall pop. Don't overdo a room and place many mirrors in the room. Having too much of one thing can overwhelm the room and make it look cluttered and small.

Add storage into the closets that are in your home. With extra storage space available, take items out of the small room you want to remodel or decorate. Less will present more in a small room. The fewer amount of items you have placed out, the bigger your room will be. Also add little accents into the corners of the room. Add a vase with simple flowers or a shelf in the corner of the room. As you decorate the walls, stagger your wall hangings. Making them symmetrical will close the room in. The more you stagger and place the belongings in odd places; the room will appear longer and also wider.
