Staying on top of weeding

You have any type of garden be it flowers or vegetables you have weeds. Weeds are not bad they are just plants that are growing where you don't want them. Staying on top of weeding can be an ongoing problem. Here are some different ways to help you keep those weeds at bay.
The first thing you should do is take the time to weed your gardens fully. Get all the weeds out and start with a fresh garden with only the plants you choose in those gardens. If you are unsure if a plant is a weed or a plant you can do some research on the internet or take part of the plant to a local greenhouse. Once you have your gardens fully weeded it is best to look at ways to prevent those pulled weeds from coming back into your gardens.
After weeding your gardens you will now want to try and limit the weeds that are coming into your garden. There are a few things you can do to limit the amount of weeds in your garden including border patrol, use less cultivation, and cover up the gardens with a mulch.

First let's look at border patrol. Inspect all new plants for any weeds that are hitchhiking on your plants. The longer a plant sits in a pot at the store or local nursery the more likely a weed seed will settle and germinate into that plant. If you see an extra seed in the soil then take it out and don't plant that seed. Inspecting your new plants will help you to stay on top of weeding.
Another step in limiting your weeds and staying on top of the weeding in your gardens is to lessen the amount of cultivation. You will always have some type of weed seed in the soil but many of those seeds won't germinate unless they are exposed to the sunlight. Some scratching and soil cultivation is good around plants but doing the cultivation too frequently will lead to more weeds coming to the surface. The best way to cultivate your soil is to add an organic mulch and the worms will cultivate the soil around your plants for you.
This leads us to the next step in staying on top of weeding by limiting the weeds that can come into your garden. This next step is to use a cover up or a mulch to keep the weeds from taking over your garden. Mulches can be either organic or synthetic because either way will smother the seeds that create the weeds.
After you have limited some of the ways that the weeds are creeping into your garden you will still want to spend some time inspecting your gardens. Spending time out in your gardens will help you to find those stubborn weeds that just won't go away. A little time everyday will help you to find and pull the smaller weeds that keep popping up.
Another way to stay on top of weeding is to rethink the way you do weeding. You don't always have to weed all at once. Set a certain time to weed and do as much as you can during that time. Looking at all the weeds can become overwhelming but looking at the weeds a section at time can help you to stay on top of weeding.
You can also stay on top of weeding by scheduling a time to do your weeding. Whether it is doing a little bit of weeding every night after work or in the mornings when the soil is still moist. Find a time that works for you once or even twice a week and it will help you to stay on top of your weeding.
