How to keep your hardwood floors clean and dent free. This is not always easy to prevent, but here are some good tips and things to watch for. Hardwood floors are very nice and you wouldn't want something simple to ruin them forever. That's why there are easy tips you can follow.

If you follow all of these tips than you will be prepared for a hardwood floor and you would be able to decreased the chances of dents a great deal. This is very important because to repair hardwood floors can get expensive.

Tip 1:
Always sweep your hardwood floors with a broom that has soft bristles and don't use a great deal of pressure. The hard brooms can cause scratches and dents. Also sweeping often can help you prevent dents.

Tip 2:
You should vacuum or sweep your floor at least once or twice a week. You can either use a broom or vacuum its which ever you prefer. A soft broom will decrease your risk of dents, as a vacuum will increase the chance.

Tip 3:
Only remember if you are going to use a vacuum, you will want to make sure that the vacuum is not a heavy vacuum. This is because it can and most likely will scratch or dent your floor. Also with vacuums it is best to use a soft bristle attachment.

Tip 4:
It is also a good idea to place non-slip rugs at all the entrances. This is to prevent getting sand and gravel, or anything else on to your floors.

Tip 5:
Another good idea is to make a no shoe policy, and put a copy on the front of all entrances. This will let people know the rules without you having to tell everyone that comes in.

Tip 6:
Also you can put non-slip carpets in heavy traffic areas. This also has a greater chance of your floors getting dents.

Tip 7:
If you do allow shoes on your floor you might want to watch out for, high heals or heavy solid shoes. These kind of sues have a greater risk of denting your floors.

Tip 8:
Vacuum your doormats and carpets often to prevent the chance of rocks, sand, and dirt finding its way onto your floors and causing little dents.

Tip 9:
Always clean up liquid spills quickly to prevent the liquid from getting into cracks and ruining your floor.

Tip 10:
Try to prevent anything heavy or hard with pointy edges from hitting your floors. This isn't always easy to prevent, but it will cause dents.

Tip 11:
You should never drag furniture across a hardwood floor. Also you can buy furniture pads these are to prevent dents that are caused by your furniture. All that you will need to do is place these on all your furniture and chairs.

Tip 12:
Most furniture pads come with a hardwood floor dent repair kit. The recommendations should be on the box. It is best to just be careful because repairing dents can get pricey.

Tip 13:
To wash your floors either try using a damp mop or a damp rag. Be careful when using a mop because it has hard metal edges and this can cause scratches or little dents on your floors. You also don't want a dripping mop or rag because this can cause water to get into your floors and ruin them.

Tip 14:
When moping your floors its best to clean small areas at a time and dry then as you go.
These are some easy tips you can use to help clean your hardwood floor and keep it dent free.
